Glamour Dresser Solution: Inn rooms as optional extensions in player houses

I am aware that Glamour Dressers are not going to be available as individual furniture for player housing due to "legacy" code.

However, I thought of a potential way to go over this limitation and as a bonus allow us to finally "sleep" in our own houses.

Give us the option to buy the already existing inn rooms as player housing extensions, working exactly like how the company workshop currently works now:
A separate room without any option to move items/decorate etc. but with actions possible inside them

This can be either a list to choose from amongst any of the inn rooms currently available in the game (my preferred method ) or perhaps a completely new one.

If however code limitation is an issue to let the players decide the style, perhaps only allow the local city's inn room, by default.

Entering the inn room can be available either from the existing private room door on the back, or directly from the external door (to perhaps avoid loading the entire house when entering/exiting).


Alternatively, if this is impossible/too costly to make, why not add just an "inn room door" in each ward, maybe in the apartment building? So there is at least a way for player housing to have an easier-to-access glamour dresser, and all player services (armory/glamour/hairdresser etc) to finally be available in the wards

I mean they could let us customize our own extra inn room. That would actually be pretty dope. They could always call it something else, and let us use all the inns features at home. It kinda reminds me of the Island Sanctuary but instead would be like an "inn sanctuary". Then again adding our own inn and teleports to the island sanctuary would be an amazing feature.

I'm pretty sure glamour dressers not being accessible through personal or FC houses is not a coding limitation. I think it's just a 'they don't want them there' kind of limitation.

No they've stated before that its part of the game's funky coding. Same with giving us a WoW Transmog system, they tried and wanted to have glamours work just like in there but the game's coding gave them much fuss. Hoping they manage to resolve these issues some day.

Sometimes I wish the FFXIV dev team had a miracle coding expert like Satoru Iwata to get them out of their own messes.

The only thing that makes me think this is a coding issue is that right now all glamour dressers are located in personal instance locations like an inn, or the GC barracks. Personal houses work a little differently as they allow for multiple players to exist inside of it. I still say it's a 'won't' issue because it shouldn't be that difficult to circumvent. WoWs Transmog system is an entirely different animal though. They would have to completely revamp not just one, but several systems to get glamours to work that way. And the more gear they release, the deeper the hole they continue to dig themselves in.

This seems to be the reason why they do not turn the dresser to an item, and AFAIK why you can't log off and log in inside your house. My idea could be an easy (?) solution since the inn rooms will be the same personal instances as they are in the Inn.

The limitation is the number of databases that can be accessed.
Some of the larger databases are: Battle/Enemy database, Housing database, Glamour dresser, and Inventories.
Having multiples of these accessible at any given time puts strain on the servers, causing lag and potentially booting players out of those instances. This is why you can't apply Glamours in an area that includes enemies you can fight.
Having two of the largest databases together (Housing + Glamours, 400+ slots each) plus the essential Inventories, plus Retainer inventories, all in the same instance, is just too much bandwidth.

That would make sense if the Glamour chest was in the same instance as the rest. This would not be the case if you read my post.


The only way this could affect it would be if the calls became more frequent due to the more accessible location of the Glamour chest, but that honestly doesn't sound possible considering it would be limited by the number of houses (with some being locked to the public natch) and it is something they should be able to handle for a company of this size, and at worst add they could timers like the FC storage already has.

Ultimately I am flabbergasted why anyone would be ok with the current situation anyway. if the current system doesn't work then maybe they should build a new one, and the consumers should not be the ones finding excuses for the company.
