    Register/Update Payment Method gives Error 601 code

    This morning I received an email from Square Enix saying that there was a payment error and that my sub had been cancelled. Made no sense because my cards are good/in use and not expired. I hadn't changed anything in that regard recently.

    I wasn't sure what the problem was but thought, I guess I just need to re-renter my payment method again. I tried to login, and my password was no longer working. I hadn't made any changes to the password either. Tried a few times and then just decided to reset/get a new password. Finally did that and signed in.

    Then I tried to enter my payment method and renew my FFXIV sub. Entered everything correctly, and then I got an Error 601 code:
    "An error has occurred.
    Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
    For details, please contact the Square Enix Support Center.
    (Error code: 601)"

    I have already contacted support about this issue. But is anyone else having this experience today or know what is going on?

    I just got a new credit card and wanted to update my payment method since I also got an email about an upcoming bill this morning. When I went to do that I am getting the same error 601 as you.

    I've tried two different credit cards, different browsers, turning off the VPN and any adblocking addons, but nothing seems to work.

    I contacted support but haven't gotten a confirmation email back yet.

    Having the same problem, sub was supposed to auto-renew overnight but it didn't go through (no reason that it shouldn't have on my side). When I tried to put my card back on file I got hit with the 601 error. So far I've seen a handful of others affected just today so I think it is a square enix side issue. I put in a ticket, will see, but hopefully they've already got people on it and it gets resolved.

    I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. It always auto-renews so I was really surprised when they dropped my sub.

    I still have no idea why my password wasn't working this morning. The last time I updated it was when Square Enix suggested we all do so (maybe 2 months ago?) when there was a data leak or whatever. And it's always worked until today. Has anyone else had a password issue today?

    Really frustrated. I tried buying crysta to pay for a sub. I was able to buy $30 of crysta, but now when I try to renew the subscription, it doesn't do anything. I click pay with crysta, and "next" and then the page refreshes and nothing happens. So frustrating to have free time to play and can't.

    *Update!
    I was finally able to pay for a sub (using crysta, but I'm assuming ccard would work as well now). I think the whole issue has to do with web browser. I use Opera, but when I tried it on Safari it worked with no problems. So, maybe it will work for anyone else having the issues.

    Glad you got it fixed. Unfortunately it's still not working for me. I tried a third browser and it's still giving me the same error:

    An error has occurred.
    Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
    For details, please contact the Square Enix Support Center.
    (Error code: 601)

    It's clearly something on their end.

    Same issue, never unsubbed, card information is not expired. Why won't you let me play your game SE?

    Yeah, I still don't understand why our subs were dropped either. The browser may/may not be a workaround to get back to the game, but you're right it's something on their end.

    I was finally able to successfully update my sub on the mogstation a bit ago if anyone else wants to retry. /shrug
