I figure this has been shouted into the sun a million times by now, but retainer quick ventures get worse every single expansion and are desperately in need of a rework.
With each added expansion the loot pool for quick ventures has increased by a large percentage without any real means of targeting what loot we get in return. Now this wouldn't be a problem all by itself if the loot obtained via quick venture was obtainable elsewhere more reliably, making quick ventures simply another potential means of obtaining said items passively via lottery.
However, there is a fairly large list of items which can be obtained from quick ventures alone, of which include the Onion suit and Peregrine Helm. The latter of which is untradable, a trait shared by many exclusive loot items from quick ventures.
Thankfully at least general purpose dyes have gradually been spread about into other locations in the game such as fete presents, lockboxes, and deep dungeon coffers. But there are still a sizable number of items dating back to 1.0 which can ONLY be obtained via quick ventures and become less and less possible to potentially obtain with each added item to said loot pool.
All I'm trying to say in this massive cloud of words is that quick ventures need a work-over to at least let us target the potential loot in clusters somehow in order to up the odds of obtaining some of the now needlessly exclusive items which many would never be able to claim otherwise. Adding the remaining exclusive items elsewhere might also be a quick fix to at least allow another, potentially more grindy avenue for obtaining these items.
Letting us choose the category of loot returned as a sub option for quick ventures might be a solid option here. Or even checkboxes to choose what loot categories to NOT bring back as to narrow it down a bit. I imagine such categories would be Gear, Housing, Consumables, and Misc. since these would cover just about everything that comes to mind immediately.
Before anyone says it, I am aware that every item exclusively obtained from quick ventures is cosmetic in nature and that I could very well complete all content in the game without it. This is not and never has been an argument. I just wish that these items, many of which even predate ARR, were more obtainable.
