    Suggestion: Bookcase Partitions

Another housing idea I had was bookcase partitions.

Currently, the only bookcase partition is the trick bookcase door. Which I love, but I would also love regular bookcase partitions that match the door. I currently use the glitch to make bookcase partitions using two mounted bookshelves so it extends all the way to the cieling. Would be nice, and cut my placements in half, if we had actual partitions.

Empyreum partitions and pillars would be super too. Sorry to hijack your post!

I always wondered why they did not release the same item, just without any door mechanism, to allow for hiding the door. Or even have the door part only open on click, like gaol doors or factory partition doors, since a hidden door is not really hidden, if it just opens itself automatically when standing nearby >.<.

It's as if some furnishing developers have awesome ideas, but fail to predict how their items could be used, or do not think things through. Like how the outdoor brick paving is dyeable - awesome! And the outdoor fruitful fountain - which has matching bricks - is also dyeable. But instead of having the bricks be the dyeable part, it's the fruit on the fountain tree. Just... why?

I actualy think that once this is done, the entire idea isnt going to be special anyway. Its going to be way too obvious, and becomes a generic thing very fast. That we now only have the door version means that people have to be more creative to make it look nice, making those situations stand out better.

But on the other hand, making such things easy to use are still part of basic conveniences that housing needs. And because of that, even if its very obvious what was done, is still a part that will make housing better. As from my experiences, most people arent going to visit random houses that fast anyway. If someone wants to do such generic thing, let them. Sure, its going to make the ones that realy managed to put those partitions well, a bit less special, but i think its still worth it. Those people that can do it well are more likely to like 'exploiting' features in housing anyway, and can always come up with new nice ways to decorate using things in unintended ways.

The Empyreum stuff is actually the Alpine stuff I believe, so the new patch just dropped Alpine doors, partitions and pillars.

As to my request, we got bookshelf partitions, but they don't match the door at all.

I don't really agree. Partitions should come as a set of doors, curved partitions, and regular partitions.

Right now, the only partitions that have the full set is the marble set. They have curved, regular partitions, and doors. They even have an alcove bed partition.

Personally. I love the bookshelf trick door as a partition because it's floor to cieling bookshelves and could give it a real academia vibe, if you're going for that with your house (which I do).

The new bookshelf partitions we did get don't match the door at all and are too gaudy.

Also, just want to point out that the point of a trick bookcase door is that it looks like all the other bookshelves around it, but it has a secret door. So how does this work without regular bookcase partitions? The mounted bookshelf, which almost matches the trick door, doesn't go all the way up to the cieling.

You can kind of blend the partition and mounted bookshelves into each other, and lower the ceiling with i.e some lofts to the mounted bookshelves' height, to have it look like a singular, large bookshelf wall. It's work, and looking closely also reveals the trick. But it's fine at a glance.
The solution is not super great, but it's good enough to be useable ^_^.
