How to use Macros for Ninjutsus?

I’ve gotten to level 45 as a ninja and unlocked the rest of the Ninjutsu (outside of upgrades for them), and there are… a LOT of combinations that we need to remember and use during combat. What I really want to know is how to macro them without having the macro automatically do it for me.

What I mean is the macro using each ability on the list each time I press it instead of it automatically going through the list (which takes far too long obviously). I did it before with classes like Samurai, but those were skills like Iaijutsu and Tsubame-gaeshi afterwards. Because the first skill would be unusable, it would use the second skill instead. But since the symbols for Ninjutsu on Ninja are always up when they are being used, that won’t work. I keep on getting the dang Bunny of Shame option with the macro ONLY using the first symbol.

So is there a way to do that? Or do I really have to memorize the seven different combinations by heart? >.>

And to be clear, I know how to use Macros other than that. It has helped a lot with auto targeting party members and such for other classes. Just wanted to say that so everyone knows I at least know how to use them for other things. And that I know to NEVER have the macro automatically use skills. That takes so long…!

Rather than memorize combinations by heart, you can memorize the last mudra used as your ninjutsu.

    Ten Chi Jin.

Raiton - 2 mudra, ends in Chi.
    Ten + Chi
    Jin + Chi

Katon, 2 mudra, ends in Ten.
    Chi + Ten
    Jin + Ten

Hyoton, 2 mudra, ends in Jin
    Ten + Jin
    Chi + Jin

Huton, 3 mudra, ends in Ten.
    Chi + Jin + Ten
    Jin + Chi + Ten

Doton, 3 mudra, ends in Chi
    Ten + Jin + Chi
    Jin + Ten + Chi

Sution, 3 mudra, ends in Jin
    Ten + Chi + Jin
    Chi + Ten + Jin

After that, it becomes much easier after practicing a bit. Once you reach level 70, you should have a solid muscle memory foundation to just know what buttons to press by that point. Wouldn't recommend a macro for mudras since it's quite easy to flub them with one and then make the bunny ninjutsu.

while I write combat macros I have to discourage the Idea of writing Mudra Macros, so yes as the quoted post says 'Rather than memorize combinations by heart', though I once wrote a Ninjutsu Macro that pings every 20 seconds to notify availability.. but it has become generally unnecessary

What I was thinking of was more in line with the abilities you have when you play as another character in the story. Where as the combo for that attack is all on one button and you need to press it multiple times to use them all. So I’d have one for one Jutsu, while another set for another combination.

But I am starting to somewhat get used to it. Instead of the names, I try and remember the button combinations since I use a controller (I’m on PS4).

So to use Doton, as an example, I press Circle, Triangle, and Square, then X to trigger it. So I basically have it set up like a simple fighting game in a way! XD

Ah yeah having the Mudras and Ninjutsu on the Face Buttons is preferable, I for example have Ninjutsu on Triangle so I hammer down the correct combination on the other face buttons, press Triangle at the end and BOOM!
you're on the right track though^^

As stated above I would like to add you can always associate the last mudra press by element ... 2 part would be Ten:Fire - Chi:Lighting - Jin:Ice , 3 Part- Ten:Water - Chi:Earth - Jin:Wind .. makes things even easier to grasp especially when you get Enhanced Kassatsu with new fire and ice abilities !!

The jutsus are really easy if you have the mudras arranged correctly on your bars. Put Chi down, Jin left or right, Ten up, Ninjutsu opposite Jin. By doing this Earth is at the bottom and Heaven is at the top, with Man in the middle.

Then you have the following jutsus:
    • Raiton - lightning strikes downward to the earth quickly
    • Katon - flames rise into the air quickly
    • Huton - energy flows through all three in an upward motion, into the air
    • Doton - energy flows through all three in a downward motion into the ground; alternatively, man reaches to the sky and pulls energy down into the ground
    • Hyoton and Suiton - man is 75% water, just remember that a two step jutsu is ice and a three step jutsu is water.
    Visual guide:

The only lossless macros for ninjutsu involve changing the hotbar so that every jutsu is 1234 or 234. For example, if the next jutsu you want to use is Suiton, you press the Suiton button any time in advance and it changes your bar to Ten-Chi-Jin-Ninjutsu but doesn't perform any actions. Then when it comes time to use it, you press 1234. Then maybe you press the button for Hyoton so you can use Hyosho Ranryu and it changes your bar to blank-Ten-Jin-Ninjutsu. Then you press 234 to activate to activate that one.

This is really an overcomplicated process when you could just arrange the mudras correctly on your bar and spend some time hitting a dummy to learn the jutsus, though. I'm only mentioning it because if someone were to ask, "are there macros to help with Ninjutsu that don't drift your GCD" the strict answer is, "yes".

While I usually have it as (when using a PS4 or PS5 controler) Cross = Ten, Circle = Chi, Triangle = Jin, and finally Square = Ninjutsu, your layout is pretty cool in terms of lore.

that seems far more complicated than the standard setup...

    1-2 = raiton
    2-1 = katon
    1-2-3 = suiton
    3-2-1 = huuton
    3-1-2 = doton

the reason why this standard setup is much more simple to use is the lvl 70 cooldown, ten-chi-jin, you'll just press 1-2-3 in order for the single target rotation. the aoe is a little less obvious (3-1-2) but it still follows the same order as the doton above

Don't use macros. The only mudra that matters is the last one.

Macros are a DPS loss for most combat abilities. They don't queue (so if you press them too early they just don't work) and have a 1 second limitation that can cause a considerable slowdown compared to manually pressing the buttons in order. It's extremely noticeable with Mudra input given that they can be chained so quickly when used normally.
