    A fatal DirectX error has occurred.(11000002)

    Got me a new pc back at the start of September for the sole purpose to play FFXIV and any other games that catch my interest but primarily FFXIV. My old PC never had problems, but for the word go, this new pc has no been stable in the SLIGHTEST where it will just at seemingly random directx crash.



    The thing that kills me is how random it is and how vague the error message is that it doesn't help me diagnose what is wrong at all. There are some days I can raid for 2 hours with no problem, but after one minute into a leveling roulette it'll crash. There are times I can stand in Limsa for a couple of hours before it crashes, and other times it'll happen in like 5 seconds of logging on. I could be standing in an empty room in housing, in my fully decked house, alone or with friends. Its like having a ticking time bomb that it could crash a LITTERALLY any second and its anxiety inducing especially being a performer for in-game venues. I'm not kidding when I say this issue has drove me to tears after nearly ruining a performance of mine.

    I have been scouring websites and forum posts for ANY kind of fix and literally nothing has worked for me so far:

    - Launching the game in windowed, borderless window, fullscreen.
    - Updated graphics drivers, used DDU to clear out all drivers before hand
    - Used DirectX9
    - Adjusted my GPU fanspeed to keep it cooler (the only reason MSIAfterburner is on here, i don't overclock)
    - Tested multiple characters
    - Updated Windows
    - Turned off all programs other than FFXIV
    - Capped/Uncapped the FPS
    - Turned the graphics way down
    - Turned off audio enhancements
    - Disabled unused audio
    - Disabled fullscreen optimizations
    - Disabled all overlays
    - Checked my ram to see if it was faulty
    - Run a clear boot of my PC
    - Disabled fast boot
    - Deleted my local game files
    - Reinstalling the game twice
    - Factory reset the PC

    I tried having the people I bought the pc from (who pick the parts and assemble it themselves btw) try to look into it. They ran the benchmark fine for 6 hours with no problem, but the game itself just causes it to crash as soon as I took it home.

    The current test as I write this is setting FFXIV's sound to be my headphones rather than default and seeing if that helps any, but I'm just so tired and frustrated after wrestling with this for months.
    Any help at this point would be appreciated.

    We would be happy to assist with your concern. We would ask of you to please try the following suggestions:
    - Try switching to DirectX 11 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher. (Do you receive same error on DX9 and DX11?)
    - Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers. (It seems the sound drivers may need to be updated as well.)
    - Perform a clean boot once more by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
    - Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
    - Try to install game on different drive. (Make sure game and Steam are installed on same drive)
    - Verify installation files.

    If you do not see an improvement, please feel free to respond to this thread for further troubleshooting.

    - I've been on DX11 for most of this sense I switched back to DX11 after it didn't work on DX9. The crashing persists on either DirectX 11 or 9.
    - As I stated I have updated and reinstalled my drivers for my graphics card. I checked my sound drivers: Nvidia's is the latest version, and according to windows my realtek Audio is as well.
    - Windows is fully updated. I just checked.
    - I only have the one drive.
    - Tried that as well before, that didn't help.

    I've had the same issues in the past, and was stable for several months (with very rare DX11 crashes) and the game has just become unstable and unplayable for this problem again.

    Things I've tried in the past, in addition to the Dev recommended issues:
    -Ensure overclocking is disabled (laptop came with it at factory, I don't use it)
    -Clothes any other RAM hogging programs like Chrome
    -Ensure G-Sync is disabled
    -Basically close any other applications
    -Update GPU drivers
    -Clear user files
    -Restore game from launcher
    -Reinstall game
    -Reinstall Windows

    This problem is not new and has not been fixed for 10 years.

    In around 2012 I started having this on my previous computer and my subscription was about to expire so I left the game then. I came back in Jan 2022 and I just started getting caught up on endgame content this week; I'm probably not going to get my goals for this week before going back to work met due to this bug. If my subscription had not renewed last week, I might have left the game over it again.

    DXDiag shows no issues and I do not have crashes in any other DX applications.

    I'm following this post as I would also appreciate seeing it resolved ASAP.
