If the current design was so detrimental to the game it wouldn't be having record breaking player counts and content clears.
The idea is to increase the number of playstyles that the game CAN create by removing the two largest creativity roadblocks that the game has. By having the freedom to create a larger range of playstyles you can then cater to all kinds of players. You can have chaotic playstyles with all kinds of random elements in them AND you can have more methodical playstyles where you're mapping things out well in advance. You can have playstyles akin to what we have now as well. I'm sorry but I don't see how having more playstyles for people to choose from is a bad thing and the biggest thing in the way of more creative design is the design corner that the developers have backed themselves into.
