Please reinstate gifting mogstore items like mounts and emotes

Now that we've passed the first Christmas since they implemented the new gifting system, I'm still thoroughly disappointed that we can't gift items like mounts, minions, and emotes. Had an instance where an FC mate wanted to buy another member the drink tea emote for Christmas, couldn't do it. I wanted to buy a friend a mount for Christmas, couldn't do it.

I get why it was done, to reduce RMT. And I get why the restrictions are in place, to prevent you from wasting non-refundable real life money on an item that the recipient might already have. But minions and mounts are public information based on the Lodestone, so they can at LEAST remove the restrictions there because you can check before you buy. Or there's this handy little thing called "communication" where you can, you know, talk to the recipient before you buy them something. Especially seeing as it forces you to be friends with people for at least 3 days before it allows you to gift them anything. Now in order to gift them anything that's restricted, you have to do the thing they were trying to prevent: real money trade. As in, give them the money to buy the thing themselves. Which defeats the purpose of a gift system.

It's just mega disappointing. In theory I like the direct-to-mogmail system better than the code system, it's just too narrowly applied for it to be of any use. Like, come on Square, I want to give you my money. Make it easier for me to do that and you'll make more of it.

This makes a depressing amount of sense. But it still doesn't explain why they can't implement a system that just doesn't allow you to purchase for them because they already own the item in question, especially for mounts and minions, when there's already a public system in place on the lodestone that tells you what a player does and doesn't have.

If so, then stop complaining about the mogstore restrictions. Or maybe SE should just remove the restrictions and see how far things go. We can find out how long it'll take for the fraudulent charges leading to all those chargebacks to eventually take its toll on credit card companies, forcing them to stop providing service to the game.
