Apartment appreciation

Not a post to negate houses/housing altogether,

Just curious, anyone out there either values their apartment just as much as housing or more?

Personally I sort of became apathetic towards housing since I feel it’s far too much work & time to design it, let alone working through glitching lofts etc., it’s definitely a mental workout.

Therefore I did as much as I could with my apartment & though I did use glitching, it burnt me out & also felt like a huge achievement (no regrets). Hence my deep love for my apartment enough + being sort of minimalist myself.

I had an apartment before I got a house. I'm currently wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do for another one, plus my FC room, because I don't want to make them just simple living quarters.

But yeah, I agree. Houses being better than apartments doesn't mean that apartments are useless, and I don't feel they get enough appreciation.

Honestly I wish apartments were given “little bit more” than just a flat square whole room & more vibrance enough for anyone to feel as less discouraged from comparing to housing.

We can only do so much but no need to further negativity either; its just feels “limited”.

I do a lot of deco requests for FC mates and such. I wish ALL houses could add additional quarters to houses similar to FC rooms...just make it cost more each time. I got characters in FCs that literally made bathrooms and dining rooms in the additional quarters to save on item limit.

Item limit kills some really good designs - look at all the large homes that are "squeezed" into the size of a medium because to do them you need a budget of 400+ items.

Happy with my little apartment until I finally win the housing lottery. It's not particularly creatively designed or laid out but it's cozy enough

I tend to prefer apartment/fc room decorations to the houses I see when I'm touring wards. There are a few nice houses that I'll bookmark, but there are so many more apartments and fc rooms that don't even try to be a living space; they'll just try to look like a pretty scenic picture, or they'll go the living space route and make something super duper cozy. Meanwhile, lots of "real homes" I'll enter are sparsely decorated or suffering from the problem of too much space and not enough furniture. People generally do more with less. There are a lot of incredible exceptions of course, but in my day to day of just wandering around and scribbling down the nice ones I find, this has been what I've encountered.

I've said this before, but if apartments and fc rooms had 200 furniture slots as a cap, I wouldn't even want a traditional house. Saying this as someone who's also burned through every furniture slot in my apartment/fc room. Hell, I'd love another one to decorate.

edit: in response to the idea that apartments feel limited. Experiment with floating lofts and verticality. Apartments are basically a block room with really high vaulted ceilings that just get wasted (imo) if you don't create a second floor. Is loft floating a pain in the ass? Yeah. But the results you get with it are great imo. I did it with mine and people are always saying that it feels bigger than a typical apartment. Build up. That, or intentionally block yourself in to create a confined but cozy living space.

There is a way to post screenshots on the forums. I am still relatively new to the forums so I dont know the customs for link sharing. But I googled how to and someone posted step by step guide on how to with photos. It does require uploading them to your lodestone page.

So, what I do, is I screenshot it and save it to my gallery on my PS4. Then I just send it to myself, go on my phone to the PS App and save the image from there.

Are you planning to upload the photos from your phone or computer?
