yeah sub-target and controlers go hand in handI play with a game pad and find sub target invaluable.
If I'm on whitemage then typically I always have the tank targetted so when I press cure I can either hit him straight away or press up/down to cycle the party list without losing focus on the tank. So if I need to fire off a quick esuna or something I never need to retarget the tank.
I couldnt be doing with having to change target, open action bar, cast cure, close action bar, change target, open action bar, cast cure, "Oh shit the tank", close action bar, change target.... imo using subtarget and keeping focus on the important guy is far better.
With dd jobs it's not an issue. if I hit something like peircing arrow then it doesn't sub target which is perfect. With spells it does. so if I'm nuking A and need to sleep B then I can hit sleep choose target B and then continue nuking A easily without needing to retarget it.
It's designed for gamepad users really and paired with the target modes makes playing with a game pad so much faster and easier.
Also this. If a stray mob or something links the whm it's nice to be able to voke/flash it without having to disengage / deselect my current target.
End result more time doing my job, Less time choosing targets.
