Mods, please advise if there is a better place to post this thread.

I am currently learning P8S, and I have spent a number of hours in Party Finder. As we all know, Party Finder descriptions indicate which part of the fight the leader wants to work toward and beyond. However, it's rare to have a group where all 8 members are perfect at all mechanics, all the time. Thus, it is common for parties to get stuck at an early mechanic when the goal is to get past a mechanic at a later stage. An example this tier would be a party set up to work on Fourfold Fires, but the party gets stuck at the first/second Reforged Reflection (especially Gorgon, aka "Snake 1").

As I sit here banging my head on my keyboard, I wondered if a "practice mode" could be viable in this type of content. I imagined a mode with the following characteristics:
  • Ability to choose a mechanic to start the pull; in my example, Fourfold Fires could be chosen
  • Fight cannot be cleared in this mode
  • Not available at initial release (for Savage, maybe released in the next odd-numbered patch)
  • If there is a "door boss," the practice mode for the "final boss" would not be accessible until the door boss is cleared
  • No preset LB gauge; if you want to practice using LB3 during a certain mechanic, you would have to do the fight normally
  • Unavailable for Ultimate fights

I am curious whether this has already been suggested and if there are reasons why it would not work. The limitations in my proposal are intended to keep the integrity of the difficulty level and achievement for clearing Savage and Ultimate. I think a practice mode would accomplish many things, including making hard content more accessible, reducing frustration and toxicity among players (especially in Party Finder), and saving player time.
