    Other distros:

Apt-get *FFXIV package name* it downloads and installs, then click on the FFXIV logo in the draw.

As opposed to open the installer, choose a location, install DirectX, wait for ages to install, then find it in all programs > Square Enix > FFXIV.

Which is easier based on these steps?
Well, I can tell you from experience Linux is easier!

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

I know it is from experiance, I can't wait to get a bigger HDD so dual boot is more viable for me (I fill a 500GB HDD with one OS)

Well, if you install linux, that OS would be able to read all your media files you currently have without needing to make an additional copy of the files. That means your Linux partition will only need space forthe OS itself, which is just a few gigabytes, and because most non-game applications are pretty small, it would probably be unproblematic to only set aside something like 20 GB for all your Linux needs.

I know all this I literally just removed Ubuntu after I installed Windows 8 and couldn't access grub, so I just removed the partition for the extra space rather than mess on getting grub back in the mbr.
