    It's based on OpenGL, but not exactly the same. It might be easy to change things around to make your code entirely OpenGL compliant, but I dunno exactly how much work it would be.

    The real question is if SE thinks it's worth it to include an OpenGL renderer for the windows version when there already is DirectX there. The number of games that let you choose between DX and OGL is... diminishing to say the least. Within the last 10 years, I can't think of more than WoW. Maybe games based on the Source engine let you do it? I'm not sure. Mac compatible games need OpenGL support, naturally, but far from all of those games offer OpenGL on the windows versions.
