amd supports openGL they even make linux drivers nivdia supports some open gl as well but they do very little with linux.. But because linux is holding more of market now they will have step up or be left out of those systems such as touch pad pc
but linus is not fan nividia for most part because of this as seen here ----> http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise...-nvidia-linux/

just because they support it doesn't mean it's good support. it's lacking.amd supports openGL they even make linux drivers nivdia supports some open gl as well but they do very little with linux.. Fixed. I think that's the bigger issue, really. Otherwise I'm quite happy with my win7.
I tried switching to linux multiple times already, but lacking game support, xy_vsFilter being much faster than libass, madvr producing better picture quality@more fps than mplayer2, photoshop being more versatile and intuitive than GIMP, lack of a decent imageviewer, pidgin being a cripple at everything other than ICQ and me not being able to find a desktop environment I like under linux is what makes me crawl back to windows every time.

I didn't pay for my Windows 7, since I got it for free from college. That made it more bearable, but it's still a bad OS.
after reading through this I can't tell if this is a bunch of conspiracy theorists... or the most amazing troll post ever.... I'm going to assume both and move on.
Looks like people hate on Windows because it's the most popular OS on the planet? Lawl.
That's a shame, too, because I don't ever see SE porting ARR to Linux. Why? The reasons have already been stated. Don't count on something that has such an abysmal chance of ever actually happening.
There was an abysmal chance of FFXIV being completely re-written two years ago too. Look at what we have today, ARR waiting right around the corner with a completely re-done world and engine.Looks like people hate on Windows because it's the most popular OS on the planet? Lawl.

I don't care if the support for Linux comes in 2 years, but it's definitely something SE should start looking at when developing their games. The time when Windows reigned supreme for gaming is fading away, slowly but surely.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
lmao, 'because it's popular'. Yeah, that's it.Looks like people hate on Windows because it's the most popular OS on the planet? Lawl.

And not the fact that DX is a piece of s**t, that it's not stable in the way linux is, that upgrades and updates will eventually cost you, that error reporting is less detailed in Windows, that it's actually LESS performant than Linux, and that they're trying to push a tablet OS with the newest version.
Yeah. It's because it's popular and I'm trying to be indie.
