    Nothing, because it's working as intended. You aren't even supposed to be playing Frontline at this point. There's only one mode Yoshida wants you to play and it's Crystalline Conflict. It's not even about balance, it's just that the new pvp isn't made to be playable outside of small scale arenas.

    Phalanx also comes with a 50% defense up for your party and 3 ranged aoe GCDs that put Sacred Claim on everyone hit. You're meant to be pushing the enemy team, not use it to try and miserably fail running away from bad situation.

    I'll take dr on cc since half the time purify doesn't even work properly and you still get stunned 1 second after using it because thanks servers.

    But nerf all dr and remove any damage immunities aswell, make drk and pala have 75% reduced damage taken or something when they use their big mitigations, but not 100%.

    Competitive game is a reference to how the game is designed, not whether or not it's an accepted big boy esport with sponsorships and whatever else.

    XIV's PvP is designed to be competitive. It is entirely skill-based with minimal RNG involved (Analysis-Chainsaw is maybe the only example of it.) So the basic concept of "you have to learn how to play the game and learn what other players are going to do/try to do" holds true whether or not it's chasing after that League of Legends money or not.

    I want diminishing returns, sure, but melee are literally the best pick for FL right now. I don't even know how you reached this consensus, because DRK/DRG/WAR are everywhere in organised qsyncs, and you'll see a lot of PLD/SAM/NIN too for that matter. Even just 2 or 3 coordinated melee will obliterate ranged players due to the DR difference right now.

    Balance problems don't make a competitive game not a competitive game. "Competitive" is defined by the use of common core design elements.

    They won’t change anything, I think it’s fine. You just have to be more careful/position better honestly. And if you do get stunlocked to death that’s just them outplaying you/your teammates usually. I’m sure there are many times your team stunlocks and kills enemies right? :P

    Welp, I see a lot of peeps mentioning skill. That's true, skill is important, but that doesn't change the fact the "cc system" in the new PvP is terribly designed as-is (considering FL).

    It would help if the netcode/lag was better so that purify would work as intended, and not have a high chance of it making no sense from the user's perspective. SE should have known that designing purify like this would cause this problem, but it was still made like this. A "Fetter Ward" would work much better, and would make a night-day difference in cc protection.

    Playing smart and skillful is important, but having the potential to be endlessly bombarded with cc mechanics is poorly designed PvP. Probably works good in CrystalC; horrible in FL. SE was on to something pre-6.1 with the immediate immunities pr cc; Diminishing returns ftw.

    All this was made for CrystalC, yes, still the decision to almost completely ignore FL design-wise is really disappointing.

    I like the idea of keeping stuns and CC as they are. When you need 3+ to kill one stabby boy/girl with their -60% DR, you need an equalizer beyond being dragged under a sea of... well... every playable race. I still cringe when toying around as a melee in PvP both since I'm new to them, and don't mind being stunlocked/CC'd to oblivion as a result. I take it mostly as: "I should've done this instead of that. Or waited until such and such was available." As someone above stated, if they remove CC/stuns, or give diminishing returns, they'd better decrease that flat -60% DR bonus to help balance it.
