I usually just lurk but I has to log in just to reply to this.

My opinion is to let people do what they like with THEIR housing. We have seen moaning on housing shortages and now an over abundance on dead servers - LOL!

I don't have a house, nor do I care but let people who have either clicked on placards for hours or won a lottery of loads of people do what they like!

What people do with their house is entirely their prerogative. I have a medium I hardly ever touch nowadays. Why do I keep it, and have for years? Because if/when the design bug bites getting a medium again is all but impossible. That's a massive problem with the neighborhood system. It creates artificial scarcity. People hoard because they know the likelihood of getting another house is slim to none.

Could I just get an Apartment? Sure, but I dislike how limiting they are. Most people do, in fact. Which is why they never served as the solution Yoshida hoped for.

Their house, they do what they want with it as long as ToS allows it. They paid for that right.

Hopefully SE does the wise thing and allocate more person Al wards during the Jan ward expansion this time round.

5 personal to 1 FC ward would be ideal but I won't complain if it's 4 personal to 2 FC wards either.

Just not something ridiculous like 18 FC wards to 6 personal wards at the beginning of lottery system.

Friend, if people purchase the plots and others agree to pay to rent for their use then I see no problem with that, that's called a service.

Maybe they wanna RP as Eorzean Rental Service, u got Cafe, Tavern & Night club establishments so why not a renter one to.

People can choose to pay rent for a house, move to a server where personal houses are available or (when applicable) create a fc on the server they are on using their main and/or alts in order to obtain their own fc house. For some people the first option is the most convenient. Take what you can get because Square isn't going to fix this just like they don't fix people owning multiple houses, botting, cheating and RMT.

Why would renting be a gil sink? There's not an issue with the average player having too much gil. If anything, the issue with gil is that a small number of people who are omnicrafters and run subs for gil have more than they could ever spend.

If they're allowed to make gil from renting those houses out it would only be worse.

Exactly, some people amass gil just for the fun of it never spending much. So in effect it is a gilsink to the game. Gil is like the highscore on a pinball machine or arcade box.
