Marilith has now turned into a bot farm

I saw a person address this a few days ago. I was going through msq on an alt, and saw characters with identical gear, the same class (bard), clipping into the ground after they finish "watching" the cutscenes.

I then did player search and got a whole list of bots. Will SE do anything about it? I doubt it, because it's SE. I don't have my Twitter account anymore, but if enough people shame them with evidence on Twitter, SE might actually do something.

Nope.

The only way to report them is to the STF made up of FOUR people.

The bots on Materia were reported for months on end and its been almost a year and they are still active.

They have no way of detecting these bots, and don't have the manpower to actively hunt and destroy them.

That's a Multi-Billion dollar game company for you.

They will multiply exponentially and flood all NA. One day youll open the door to your house and a torrent of bots will fling out at the speed of light shredding you to pieces in the process as they were so compressed in there they shot out like shrapnel. GL tho.

Only thing you can do is report them, not much that can be done otherwise.

Ya..I got a little more optimistic when I saw SE announce in a newsletter (a while back) that that they're gonna become more active in punishing botters and cheaters, and also encourage players to report bots through support desk. Guess my friend was right - guess I shouldn't take SE seriously until they start hardware banning and such. Guess it's still the four-man team.

Which is why they should've done something about it by now when they've been abusing this same method of farming since the 2.0 days.

A logical first step would be to just remove the gil drops from ARR/HW dungeon trash because it's what they're after and Stormblood onwards already did that anyways. They can compensate by having more equipment drops in chests as actual players can use the GC seals from turning it in to make gil via marketable items instead.

Real question:

Not saying you're wrong because it is a method of making gil but what newbies do you know that actually engage in that method without being handheld into doing it first? I feel that most rely on gil from MSQ rewards or roulettes but maybe I'm out of touch since it's been a couple of years now since I've been new.
