    Texture Pack

    Would it be possible for SE to just make a texture pack for everybody who wants it down the road?

    Im fine with the sacrifice being made for 2.0 because it looks beautiful, but eventually (maybe with dx11) would this be possible?

    It is time to bring this back from the dead..

    SS and a gameplay presentation has been released. It is NOT gamebreaking, graphics do not make or break a game, but there are people who want to put their systems to good use and make everything as beautiful as can be.

    Yes, this goes for the grass as well.

    Please give us an optional texture pack at some point down the road, it doesn't have to be right away (though that would be nice ).

    u should wait to see the final result before asking for that, those screenshots are taken before the alpha version .-.

    This game has the most fragmented file system I have seen in a PC game, besides FF11, I doubt the existing files will work in the new engine.

    Maybe we will get HD textures with the first expansion, can only hope.

    ....Wait are you saying the textures now and upon release won't be HD? lol, every video of XIV I made as of 1.x has always come out to 1080p HD....

    Also, the file system isn't fragmented, it's not packed which allows for not only easier editing if you must (i.e changing armor designs just for your eyes etc) it's done in a way that if the game has an errornous file it won't crash the entire game but just x error. With games that uses pack files like Unreal games, if a pack errors, the whole game is kaput so it still takes the same file space if not less than some games with pack files.

    I think he's using "HD" as a general term, not just about the resolution the game runs at. While HD resolutions are 720p and all that stuff, I'm sure you would agree that the textures of for example Unreal Tournament 1 from 1999 doesn't have textures worthy of being called "high definition", even if the game easily runs in 1920x1080.

    Uhh yeah, how about we wait and see what the final thing is actually going to look like first on max settings, before asking for stuff like this.

    Jumping the gun a bit bud. We don't know IF the textures are sacrificed really, it's educated speculation maybe, but it's still speculation. That said nothing stops them from a texture ora texture upgrade down the line.
