Locked out of Crystal Conflict Ranked by the matchmaking system

I used to be Crystal Rank in season 1 but took a long break from the game and in the meantime I fell down to bronze 3. The rank I am at doesn't matter or bother me what does bother me however is that due to how the ranked system works people over time can basically never de-rank, so the bulk of the community is most likely somewhere between Gold and Diamond and the reason this is a problem is that you cant be matched by people above your rank to a certain degree. So after my break I wanted to play some CC Ranked again but it is impossible to find a game I had a total of 2-3hours of que time and I didn't find a game. In essence I can not play a a game-mode in the game because there is not enough people queing for PvP to justify a ranked matchmaking system the way it is implemented right now. Please correct me if I am wrong somewhere but that is the gist of the problem I'm facing that hopefully can be resolved soon.

Lol, you probably have a better chance at finding games at Bronze rank.

There hasn't be a single higher ranked game on Aether in weeks.

A mix of awful rewards that most people already got and the fact that a lot of Aether player just don't care about Crystalline Conflict anymore.

Just wanted to highlight an issue with the matchmaking system in hopes that gets somewhere rather than just saying "this sucks"

I have complained so many times on Twitter about this and have heard nothing: You fall out of Crystal or Diamond then get stuck in lower tiers because of the queues, meanwhile Crystal queue is <5 min during prime time. When I was Crystal, I would be paired with plat and diamond, so not sure why it doesnt work all the time? They were supposed to make the queue a 'dynamic' queue but....they need to make it even more dynamic

Probably depends of the DC, but you still get paired between plat/diam or diam/crystal in ranked, but it just doesn't pop a lot, unless by some miracle enough people decide they want to pvp this evening. Windows for this are also pretty short usually, so if it doesn't pop, people just stop trying and move on. It pops more in gold and lower.

The population playing ranked has dwindled every season. One just has to look at the leaderboard for the top 100 every season: first season was decently rated crystal players everywhere, this current season it drops down to diamond or even plat on some DCs. The population has been cut by 4 or 5 times easy. It also makes it harder to climb up due to it being a lot more competitive as a side effect (all the absolutely top ranked crystal of former seasons are now evolving between crystal and high diamond because there is no lower crystal buffer anymore). Anyway, in short, the remaining ranked population has been spread extra thin over all the leagues.

Ranked died with season 4 sadly. The unranked queue still pops within a few minutes so I roll into that once in awhile when I wanna play some CC.

I get that but to me there is no point if I cant play ranked que, cuz I could do a million other things to have fun if I just wanna goof around instead of try to do my best

I can relate to that, but pvp has never been FFXIV's strong point. It just simply doesn't attract that kind of crowd even if CC is pretty decent.

True that but you know doesnt mean that cant change if you give people some worthwhile rewards, like stuff that is exclusive to PvP thats not just some random top 100 rewards, a new glam each season depending on your rank etc etc. Not just Wolf collars and Crystals that anyone has so people that like to collect things or like Glamour have a reason to try PvP and maybe enjoy it? stuff like that but that has to start with fixing the system xD
