    Why is diadem a duty?

    I thought this back when I first bothered with it, and I recently was thinking about it again.

    Because it's a duty you can't jump into it while queueing up with other content. It would be a nice activity for those long queues that you get stuck in sometimes.

    There are so many side system Duties that just need to be open world content and use the actual environments created off of MSQ. It's very frustrating, but I do understand it to some extent - Part of the reason is the ability to make them cross-DC.

    Open world wouldn't have the same flexibility that the duty version offers. Aside from opening up to the whole DC, you also have things like the duty action and limit bar which just wouldn't exist in an open world setting. It allows gatherers to level up without being fully progressed on main story.

    Maybe not open world but what's to stop them from putting it in a non-duty instance?

    Now, see I know you're letting spaghetti engineering limitations get to your brain, and think we can't have nice things. But we already have BLU, Role Actions, Level Sync in open world - So that tells us it all shouldn't really matter with adding random skills that activate / deactivate by area and FATE. It probably just comes down to them not wanting to have maximum instance with CPU intensive activities always running. When they can just have single instances of everything intensive like Bozja.

    Not allowing Gatherers to level up because of MSQ progress is a symptom of their own design philosophies, and it's really up to them in how they want to force everyone into these world limited engagements. We shouldn't be sitting here making excuses for them, when we know what they can do. They've chosen to remove instead of add over the years.

    Also, we have Chocobos with abilities. So what would even be the problem with giving us more open world specific abilities that don't go into Duties? Tank and Healer feel pretty horrible solo and open world, give them cool stuff. Why always the anti-fun? Give me big numbers, nukes, why's everything always gotta be 2 minute burn-downs with lame samey rotations?

    No, You're the one with spaghetti on the brain and reading way too deep into what I said. I'm thinking of the value in running a persistent space for one activity.

    As far as leveling goes, that was a courtesy they did for everyone, as they start to think long term about the game and people having more to catch up on.

    What's to stop them? It's already in place and not worth migrating just so people can queue something else. You go to diadem to do serious gathering, not pass a little time in between queues. There are plenty of other places to gather while you wait for your spot.

    It's not a tangent unless you suffer from smol brain. Open world is solo content, solo content feels bad so they amp it up in duties. Why can't they do the same for open world to liven it up a bit.

    You're saying that open world wouldn't have as much flexibility, so it's clear you're thinking of spaghetti bullshit everyone else does when they make excuses for the lack of fun, when you're just making assumptions on why Duties are more flexible. It's reverse armchair dev when we know those systems already exist in a pocket, the pocket is just too strict.

    Excuses, excuses, always excuses from everyone.
