Rotations have not been "hard" in any sense of that word since Endwalker debuted. There is no appreciable difference between performing a rotation that automatically aligns with raid buffs and never shifts and remembering to get all your cards, lilies, AF, etc out during those raid buffs while also keeping your dot rolling.
I would even say that the hard thing there is not performing a rotation correctly, even branching ones. The hard thing is actually not drifting your non-2min actions and not overcapping resources, which tbh (unless you're missing stuff by a lot) only matters for people playing the percentile games.

I don't know the answer to this. I don't play too often and am a bad player so I play Dancer. It is stupid easy.

[QUOTE=Gserpent;6149082] They are all embarrassingly easy since Endwalker, which is why I've refused to invest in raiding this expansion./QUOTE]

wait, wut? xD... you do know, this is us the hardest since HW (mechanically harder than HW).., DRS is the hardest Ultimate & 2nd EW savage probably the hardest savage ever? (HW was gated & had clunky classes, its mechanics seem EW extreme trials)

Don't be so hard on yourself. Plus chakrams hitting mob pulls is just such a satisfying sound.

Same here - the 'Dash' ability is a bit of a godsend for a useless player such as myself

Avoiding drift is easier than it has ever been because literally everything *automatically* aligns with buffs and you just need to remember to briefly stop licking the windows and push a button every 30 seconds or so. And even then, there's a constant push towards 20 sec burst window durations, which means you can actually afford to drift your buttons *quite a bit* and still be okay. Moreover, they've largely reduced complexity in those buttons. NIN had Assassinate removed and the potency rolled into DWD, so that's one less button to weave (they could have just made DWD turn into Assassinate since you couldn't use Assassinate without the buff up anyway...), Upheaval had its beast gauge cost removed, etc.

Managing drift is where a lot of the depth/ceiling was in Shadowbringers, together with burst windows not automatically aligning so you may need to figure out ways to optimize according to your group composition. I imagine this was *probably* harder to balance, but the shift to "everyone is 2 minutes" was a fucking awful decision. Hindsight is 20/20, though. I don't blame Square-Enix for not realizing it was a mistake until after the fact. I wouldn't have thought it would cause this many issues, either.

I disagree tanks can be responsible for helping teammates recover from mistakes just like healers can, tanks alter what they're doing and how they're using short cds and can help to help a DPS survive, they have two raid wides in rep/personal (3 for PLD) among making sure yes they use CDs properly on themselves to help healers.

I feel like you're in the wrong mindset as a tank if you're only ever thinking about how are you going to survive.
The discussion was about DPS. Tanks don't modify their DPS because they are using something like Nascent Flash, Cover, Divine Veil, Shake It Off, TBN - etc. Those are all oGCD and in most cases, not bound to your DPS anyway. Gone are the days of WAR needing to land Inner Beast during a tankbuster because of the mitigation component that came with it. Healers might have to modify their DPS because of other players' mistakes. Tanks don't. Like I said, we should know exactly where are in the fight based on where we are in our rotation. Our usage of oGCD abilities to help out healing has nothing to do with it.

Of course we toss these mitigation/healing buffs on people in the group as needed. That goes without saying.

Does BRD change their rotation based on when they use Nature's Minne? Does MNK change their rotation if they use Mantra? Clearly not. That's what I'm talking about.

In my experience, the variance that goes on in raids is mostly at the healers' feet. Sure, some mechanics will force you to alter your rotation (or just toss a ranged attack in there) - but for healers, other players' mistakes become their problem.
