    Did primal spells push BLU into a corner?

    We have so many primal spells now, and will presumably be getting more, that it feels like BLU is lacking in creativity, in a sense. I've recently been leveling and soloing dungeons on an alt and I guess I'd forgotten how much more involved BLU gameplay is before you're loaded up on primal spells, before you have the overpowered level 70 spells like Ultravibration, and so on.

    Without the primal spells and things like that, I'm actually making use of spell combos like Level 5 Petrify+Drill Cannon that otherwise get passed up because they're functionally worse versions of primal spells, or because you're just grabbing all the monsters and just instagibbing them with Ultravibration.

    It's unfortunate, the primal spells are all really cool, but they do *so* much more potency than basically anything else, and the nature of the Moon Flute window demands as many oGCDs as possible, that in a sense I feel like BLU is becoming... if not homogenized, streamlined?

    They are so disproportionately good compared to all other BLU spells that they are mandatory and, in effect, all they serve to do is to make the customizability of your spellbook loadout 7 or so spaces less than the ostensible 24

    They wanna make BLU a SMN at the rate we're going. Still funny to me BLU gets to know the feel of chewing 5 Gum I mean wield the power of primals beyond the ARR assortment of primals and SMN still doesn't have the egi glams for them. Which, given the degree of the EW change for SMN is fair. But I hope they do add them eventually. I miss summoning Leviathan as one of my go to pets like I did in XI.

    On topic though and yea, that's a bummer about how those spells are shoehorning BLUs into using them, especially given how varied you could get with the Job if they cut loose with it.

    I suspect it's part of why we haven't gotten an 80 update yet. As is, it feels largely functional, if perhaps bloated. But, any more, within the established restrictions, something's gonna have to give way.

    Personally, I think they missed a trick with the level 70 spells.

    I think what BLU is in need of is a way to use the Limit gauge. 'Limit Breaking Spells' could be a useful and unique tool. Powerful spells that consume the limit gauge, maybe even partially, so they could consume one bar at a time meaning a full party could allow three players to use a limit break spell.
    And the reason why it should have been in the level 70 range is because you had some great primals and bosses that could have provided them. Suzaku could have given a healer LB with a party raise, Susano could give the melee single target LB or the 'ranged' line AoE LB, Shinryu the caster LB, and Omega the tank LB.
    Crucially, this would have meant all of the primal spells at level 70 would occupy only one single slot instead of 2 or 3.

    There's still potential for level 80, but I don't think it would be as fitting.
    Hades would probably provide the 'caster' LB, Innocence the 'ranged' LB, tank LB from one of the Weapons, maybe healer LB from Titania.

    Awkwardness of having an LB that can't be used, I don't really think BLU needs LB spells or something like that. What I would really like to see is the ability to add traits to your spell book, and you can learn traits as well as spells. If nothing else, you could remove Aetherial Mimicry entirely at that point and instead make role selection based on loading a specific trait.

    Ok, idea, different direction. Idunno how likely/possible this would be to lore-justify..

    But what if instead we leaned more into spells like Saintly Beam, but for more varied enemy types? Spells strong against dragons, wavekin, scalekin, etc. Sorta have precedent with some of the Ability system in FF9.. Would lend itself to having us get more particular with our loadouts depending on what we face.

    It might not see much/any use for trials or raids, depending on if the bosses are even classified for it.

    And.. I guess maybe might not be a huge change for dungeons either, since UV still reigns supreme.. but at least maybe more fun than waiting for cooldown between packs.

    Like I said, at least if they would make these primal-derived, maybe hard to pick a skill that sounds suitable to apply this to.. but, idk, maybe an option to consider instead of flooding us with more oGCDs.
