Fwiw but just to be clear, for posterity's sake, that completing Kettle to the Mettle itself is not required, Kettle to the mettle does block one of the quests but you only need to begin kettle to the mettle, you don't need it completed as I've made a number of 2.0 weapons and have never done Kettle to the Mettle to completion. But I do recall having started it and dismissing it from my quest journal multiple times over the years. So it definitely blocks something to do with the ARR relic quest chain but it doesn't need to be completed just flagged in progress.

Also makes sense. I kinda suspected it'd be a case of "I have other quests that you can't see because this one is up." But you're right, more accurate to say it doesn't strictly need finished, but picking it up does allow the game to show the other quests. I'm guessing, anyway.
