Developers won't do anything because the developers do not get it and it certainly isn't helped by ignorant players saying shit like this:
Want this problem to be fixed? Somehow cause JP to start a drama over third-party hacks that can bypass this cap during a world first race where JP loses to NA and post it everywhere on 2ch. That is the only time they do anything.
I'm afraid Final Fantasy XIV does not have any high-end fights. They don't exist according to forum users so there is no need to pay any attention to issues in these mythological encounters with mythological issues that raiders make up to complain about. Furthermore, any issue that arise when you play the game correctly should not be fixed. You see, the solution to this mythological issue is simple: don't align your buffs and deal less damage, like a normal player would do so. The correct way to play this game is to use your 2-min buffs randomly when you feel like it, probably right after scratching your nose to flick off the popcorn that went on your nose while watching the latest Marvel movie. Alignment is playing the game incorrectly. Therefore this is a mythological issue because aligning buffs means you intentionally went out of your way to break the game. And with no word from SE and the FFXIV community being relatively calm over the issue, this seems poised to be swept under the rug again.
The only way that world first groups found out about this was by looking back in FFLogs and ACT. Without those add-ons, people would be stuck. And now that parties know of the limitations, they’re able to change their teams accordingly.
So remember that when people say FFXIV isn’t an add-on and plug-in game. With 20,000 people on Mare at any given time, and ACT being required to clear high-end fights, our moral high ground against WoW and other games is slipping. And, of course, we’ll still praise SE. Nothing will happen. Expect all the aforementioned problems to get worse (and you WILL like them), until which point we all leave FFXIV to do something else.

Soooooooooo, I guess it turns out they can touch the buff cap limit, as they have done so in this patch (at least with some content).
For anybody interested, please instance into Alphascape V4.0 and apply more than 30 buffs.
You won't dodge any.
The cracks in the pavement, match the cracks in their weathered skin.
Ty and grats on your discovery
Yes, there is chatter in the community that the buff cap has been increased to 60, but only in raid content and possibly exploratory zones.
It certainly took long enough. Now we just wait and see what kind of bugs they introduced with this fix.
Yeah, one posted on Reddit had some interesting things. One DNC without a DNC buff but half the rest of the party having it, BRD buffs on the party despite no BRD being in the party, and a WHM with Formless Fist and Surging Tempest about to go ham after having taken entirely too much of everyone's poop, lol
