    The programmer in me is thinking what happens if you increase the buff cap to 40 but then class changes happen and then 50 is required? Then 60? Then 70? I've had similar requests on things in the past and the immediate change was increasing the number, but that was just band aiding the problem. Maybe they need to change the way these things interact with each other instead. Someone on the previous page mentioned Death's Design showing just one icon but applying to anyone who had it up. Perhaps they could pursue something along those lines. It would have the added benefit of cleaning up and streamlining visibility and could provide some future-proofing so they don't just face this issue again down the line.

    If they don't fix this they're going to have to reconsider how often they like dumping buffs on us in end game content.

    I would argue that it is equally important in both cases because it limits the way they can design content: Save the Queen areas are meant to break limits and try new things with a lot of special buffs; TOP on the other hand has plenty of debuffs to inform the player of complex mechanics. If the buff cap was raised in some way (or simply removed), then they'd have more freedom in this regard.

    Raising it to 40 at least would already help a lot but the cap shouldn't exist in the first place. Buffs will only go higher if the jobs and/or content get more of them because you're still limited to 8 people per party and the amount of buffs that you can give to someone in another party is very limited (mostly some heals).

    As for debuffs, all they have to do is show anything that benefits the player in some way (Chain Stratagem, Addle, etc.), as well as their own DoT/debuff. Anything else can still be there after it (up to a point) but it won't matter to the individual player that BRDs and healers from other parties have their DoTs up and running.

    Another reason why should get red of this "buff burst" system.
    You don't need every DPS with a raid wide partybuff.

    I'm glad this thread has been revived.
    DRS content enjoyers have had to deal with this for a long time. This even reared its ugly head in Eureka.

    For it to appear in 8-man content was just an inevitability.
    Hopefully this is the push SQUEENIX needs to resolve the issue, but I'm incredibly sad that we got brushed off when shouting about this previously. This issue and outcry wouldn't have happened if we'd have been listened to.

    BLM can have up to 6 personal buffs up during its burst window, so yes, if Ley Lines was cast last, it could have been eaten by the cap.

    PS3 limitations btw. PS3 with its limited UI memory could only display so many status effects at once, so that's why there's a cap. Bosses have an additional 30 slots that are hidden, but that's not good for players. SE just never bothered to increase the cap after PS3 support was ended, despite being able to do so.

    This isn't something they can hotfix, this is a basic engine issue. It would require massive amounts of testing to implement, it goes back to that spaghetti code argument that keeps getting dismissed (mostly due to the PS3 limitations on the UI).


    1) This is just yet another datapoint showing that they don't do proper QA testing.


    They have an enemy that does massive buffs / debuffs on the players and don't properly test it with the jobs that massively buff or debuff the players? (AST/SGE/DNC) It seems like a pretty glaring oversight.



    2) This also another datapoint in the failure of the 2 minute burst meta that CBU3 has fostered.
