Bumping for visibility as the newest information on job actions for Dawntrail greatly suggests that many of the new actions will be available through a buff, thus the importance of this thread's request.

Agreed. With some gauge giving actions like Manification and Barrel Stabilizer likely being changed to a buff that gives a free use on top of many actions giving follow up actions likely with a Ready buff, I fear buff overcap will be an issue in 8-man content in Dawntrail. Pretty much guaranteed in the new exploration content.

As expected, many jobs will get their new actions through a buff that will trigger after using other specific actions. For instance, DRG is going to have at least four extra buffs during 2-minute bursts just for this purpose. Hitting the buff cap on these will result in massive DPS losses due to the inability to use the newest high potency actions.
Therefore, I hope that the buff cap is doubled, as it was the case during the short-lived period in which they tried but introduced a game breaking bug in the process, in instanced content such as dungeons, trials, raids, Ultimates, Alliance raids and Exploratory Missions.
What if all the buffs and debuffs were standardized? All healing-over-time effects were "Regen" and they just stack in intensity and/or duration up to some capacity?
And damage reductions were just the same "Protect" buff stacked in intensity of 1%/stack. So a typical tank cooldown would be "Protect x30".

Don't you dare bring Quickness and Alacrity over from Guild Wars2What if all the buffs and debuffs were standardized? All healing-over-time effects were "Regen" and they just stack in intensity and/or duration up to some capacity?

If a SAM were in a party of the worst case scenario in a 2 minute window they'd have Food, Shifu, Jinpu, Meikyo Shisui buff, Tsubame Ready, Tendo Ready, Ikishoten giving Ogi Namikiri Ready, Zanshin Ready, DNC in party giving dance partner, Standard Step, Esprit, Devilment, Technical Step, AST giving card, Divination, melee with a raid buff, and caster with a raid buff. That's already 17 out of 30 buffs without counting possible mitigation, regens, or debuffs from the boss in just 8-man content. I do hope SE is already working on this because it seems too obvious to not see coming.

Just chiming in. Personally I don't care if the buff/debuff cap is improved explicitly, provided it's never a problem again.
That means either increase the buff/debuff cap, or reduce the sheer amount of buffs and debuffs players can spam out. Either solution, I don't care, fix the problem. If this is an engine issue that cannot be fixed, reduce buffs/debuffs even if it means removing food or toggling FC buffs. If it can be fixed, fix the engine. The fact this was a problem in DRS and then became a problem again in TOP of all places should tell you the severity of the buff/debuff cap.

A Meikyo Shisui being dodged means they lose the Meikyo Shisui buff, the Tendo buff, and the Tsubame Ready buff. I'm sure we'll see other jobs reaching buff cap issues too.
Yeah this really needs to be addressed. +1
it/its - 14 accessibility is bad, ease of access is not accessibility, jobs are boring. Transphobia ruins real attempts at criticism and it's whack.
