Please increase the maximum amount of buffs/debuffs a player can have to at least4060 (see below).
There's a limit of 30 buffs in the game that includes both buffs and debuffs. Anything counts for this: FC buffs, squadron buffs, food, etc.
Any extra added (de)buff (with some exceptions) will automatically be "dodged" and have no effect. Almost anything can be dodged: DRG's positional buffs, NIN's Mudras, WAR's Inner Release, MNK's forms, DNC's Standard Step, etc.
Buff capping is prevalent in places such as Save the Queen areas and Baldesion Arsenal, the latter of which had to be patched in the past to avoid exploiting the mechanic that prevents players from raising with ease.
It is especially painful when running Delubrum Reginae (Savage), CLL or Dalriada, since there's a handful of permanent buffs (reraiser, rays of valor, reminiscence...), as well as a number of penalty debuffs (no mounting, no raising, no changing classes...).
This means that players must reduce the amount of defensive buffs to zero during bursts or similar situations or otherwise risk capping, despite the fact that the content provides plenty of actions such as Lost Aethershield, Shell (II) or Bubble. This also impacts tanks and healers as the available tools they can use is reduced during burst windows and similar cases. And even so reaching the limit is still possible with only offensive buffs present.
Do note however that this was already a problem in DRS before Zadnor was implemented.
It might seem like a "niche" thing, but it ruins the fun of those of us who like running StQ content. Additionally, it can actually affect normal duties like extremes or ultimates, as pointed out by this post: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...tside-of-bozja
Finally, enemies also have a buff/debuff cap of 60: 30 being in the "first" slot and visible, and the other 30 in the "secondary" slot and hidden but still doing their work. In some cases such as The Queen in DRS, your debuffs can be pushed out and disappear when she gets the four buffs provided by her Sovereignty bar filling to 100 (this is the point in which she summons the lightning orbs).
I'd like to ask the devs to at least increase the buff cap to4060 to avoid dodging, as well as if possible separating buffs and debuffs into different categories to further reduce the limit and avoid bugs or exploits.
There will likely be more adventuring forays and large-scale raids in the future and considering that we have even more buffs at level 90 (e.g. RPR's AC), this change is pretty much required.
EDIT. Others in the thread have commented how this affects Dragonsong's Reprise and more recently The Omega Protocol, which adds up to the reasons as to why the cap should be raised.
EDIT 2 (05/10/2023). The buff cap seems to have been raised in some content like 8-people raids. See proof here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxivdiscus..._on_increased/
However, Delubrum Reginae (Savage) appears to not be included in this. I would ask anyone going to the FanFest to please raise this question to the dev team/Yoshi-P so that they at least include DRS in their list of duties affected by this buff cap increase, as it's also a very prevalent issue there. While I initially asked for at least 40, the more we can have, the better.
EDIT 3 (10/10/2023). As of the morning of the 6th of October, the Reddit post above has reported that the buff cap raise has been reversed. The bug that came with it doesn't seem to have manifested again. Strangely enough, SE has not acknowledged the bug or its reversal. Still, this means that they are likely testing ways of implementing it, but we should not stop asking for it either way until it's done. Considering that enemies have a cap of 60 buffs/debuffs, I believe they likely doubled the amount that players can have from 30 to 60. This is good news and hopefully they'll find a way to implement it soon in both 8-people content and Delubrum Reginae, as well as any other duty where this might be a cause of concern such as the Baldesion Arsenal. Ideally, it'd be implemented everywhere except perhaps the overworld.
