Considering the XBox is all but dead in Japan, they might not have that much incentive to bother.

Is there an IGN article that says... "Sony is preventing Square Enix from releasing Final Fantasy XIV on XBOX"? Because if it doesn't say that exactly then it is speculation. Now, if you could provide the source specifically about XIV being held like that, then I'll gladly concede. If not, then don't make stuff up.

Ok so... instead of speculations, how about this instead.
Seems the two weird Microsoft regulations for MMOs are still a thing.
So there you go.

Last thing mentioned by Devs was just before Ew release, they more or less had the green light but xbox development was completely haulted with post covid delays and devs focusing Ew release. So likely not happening anytime soon if at all anymore... they got FFXVI to push out and the next FFXIV expansion...

Just a +1 to Xbox not really being a thing in Japan. I can't remember the last time I even saw one on a shelf in an electronics store. Switch and PS4/5 have entire aisles...

Yeah not only that but consoles in Japan are dying off pretty quick, even pc to a lesser degree, mobile reigns supreme in the east...

It's more likely they make a Switch version than an Xbox version since it's a much more popular system

I would say at this point just leave Sony. That company has been a sinking ship for a while. Sony moving to California was just the canary dying in front of us, lol.
