    Roulette Adjustments Suggestion

    I'm not sure this is the best place for this but all indicators online seem to point to it, so here goes:

    Place the following duties in a new roulette all their own, as they are notoriously heavy rotation polluting 50/60/70/80 and 90 roulette:
    • Keeper of the Lake
    • Ala Mhigo
    • Sohr Kai
    • Amaurot
    • The Dead Ends

    In addition, place The Aetherochemical Research Facility in Main Scenario Quest Roulette. It is long and has none of its own rewards.

    If the roulette contains all of the ARR 50 dungeons, all the 60 dungeons, all the 70s, and all the 80s, but you're very prone to getting the same five or six duties? It's not working very well. Newer players will do a duty like St Mocianne or Fractal Continuum or The Lost City of Amdapor just one time--the first time--and then never see it again. The roulettes should offer some actual variety, and it seems like they do not. Call it "Capstone Roulette" and put every x.0, x.3, and x.5 MSQ dungeon in there with their own rewards.

    roulettes are there to fill queues. if you're seeing those over and over again you're helping people complete those dungeons.

    You are correct and I'm not suggesting that they should not be populated by a roulette. I'm suggesting that they are populated with *their own* roulette with its own rewards. Even as a full light party you are very likely to get these and it's disappointing when you do, as it is also likely to pull 4 roulette players into what seems like a prioritized duty for the roulette, and none are first-timers.

    While I see the problem I would argue that we already have too many roulettes. It takes hours to complete them every day and the rewards are not that great either. How many tomestones do we actually need?

    And how good have the rewards actually to be so you would set foot in the roulette with only the dungeons inside you (and likely everybody else) can't stand to see anymore?

    Bad rewards and nobody will do this roulette and newbies have problems to clear these story dungeons. Good rewards and we will be doing the same dungeons over and over and over again without any chance of seeing anything else.
    Plus it would remove people from the 50 - 80 roulette and queuing for non-story dungeons will take even longer.


    The people I know are basically only doing Expert, Alliance and Leveling Roulette. By increasing the rewards for 50-80 (especially the exp) and combining 90 and Expert I would think it would put more people in the queue which already have cleared everything and the likelihood to get something else than the same dungeons all the time increases.

    I noticed this as well and my explaination for this as a non-tech-person was that the duty which is run a lot has more instance servers currently open which the system tries to fill instead of closing them and open another instance o.ô;

    That was another type of solution that would also work pretty well. I'm with you thinking it's spaghetti code reasons possibly, and that adjustments to the roulettes rather than an additional one would also be good (falling in line with why I suggested putting ARF in MSQ roulette; quite honestly nothing belongs in there more than ARF from post ARR stuff). Something other than packing more dungeons into the roulette with the most variety available with the fewest outcomes seeming to vend from it.

    Also, to be clear, I am speaking for myself I'm not exactly sick of these dungeons. I'm fine with doing them but just propose that they be incentivized for their own reasons. I'm not in the camp that does all the roulettes every day spending hours doing it (I couldn't anyway), and as you say some people cherry pick the heaviest payload. But the only roulette offering any real variety being Leveling roulette if you don't do Mentor Roulette (which has its own complaint lore I don't participate in, personally) remains disappointing and could speak to the aversion.

    The problem isn't that those dungeons have extra weight in the matching, the problem is most people never bother to unlock the others and /cannot/ pop the other ones because of that. It can only match you with people who all have the intended content unlocked. They could potentially alleviate the issue by simply adding some reward for unlocking and completing the entire dungeon list to make them more likely to pop as more people would have the option ticked off server side, but it would have to be a reward that the players would actually want to go through all of that for....

    Aethero really should be in MSQ roueltte, though. That was weird to me all that way back in HW that it wasn't.

    I think a restructuring of the roulettes would be a good thing. The system was fine when it was finding its way, but now it needs a bit of a refresh.

    I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
