the case of the floating weapons.

you know one thing i don't get in medieval/pre industrial settings in video games, is the lack of things that hold those nice shiny sharp swords on your waist, or the slings to hold the ever so mighty shield.

in near 20 years of this theme, no one has got it right. and the elder scrolls games are pretty much the only ones i've seen even get it remotely close.

so are there any plans for sheaths an scabbard or maybe by any chance a Shield guige.

Please feel free to discuss and share your opinions on the matter of floating weapons/shields.

I can't think of any mmo's that have sheaths or buckles to hold weapons/shields. While it would add to the immersion I think its time consuming to create sheaths along with swords. You have to worry about creating animations of sheathing which can be very complex as well as unique art for each sheath. While it is a neat idea I'm sure they are viewed as largely unnecessary.

If I remember right, Witcher, not MMO, has sheaths.

sheaths will be cool. It can even work for great swords.

Not sure about Great Axe, polearms and Staffs though.

For great axes, you could have a small "slot" on your back where you would hang the axe with it's blade covered by small leather "half-pouch" or something. Polearms also had their blades covered with something like that, but it would be annoying to have the game animate unseathing a polearm each time, so it might be best to just leave that out.

i think your weapon should flash into your hand like a bolt of lightning and then materialize into it's physical form. because that would be tight

IIRC Aion did something like that, at least if you pulled your weapon out while running. It looked pretty cool but undoubtedly people would argue that such a thing ruins that artistic integrity of FFXIV or something like that.

Would make sense for Ramuh weapons to appear in a bolt of lightning. Sorta like how moogle weps make that annoying Kupo and Ifrit's go all "flame on!"
