Idea - New PVP mode: Blue Royal

So, I was thinking about what could be a new game for pvp, when I came up with this idea, and I want to know what you guys think about it.

    Blue Royal

Blue Royal is a battle royal game, but only for blue mages.
15 blue mages are dropped in a large map where they have to kill creatures to obtain their spells, while also battling each other. Last man standing wins. It would have it's own reward structure like CC and also contribute to the series rewards.

I think something like this could be fun, and would add value to the blue mage job, what do you guys think?

Yeah I think it would be pretty sweet. I'm just not sure there would be enough people for a large scale battle royale, given that blue mage is pretty niche content. But it could have been fun !

My friend would only main BLU if he could, and he talks about how he'd kill for BLU PVP.

I think there would need to be some randomness involved for it to work. For example, everyone gets the same spells but they're chosen at random each match. Otherwise, people would gravitate to meta spells every time.

Yeah, they really shot themselves in the foot with how *bad* BLU was on debut. It wasn't until the lvl 60 patch in ShB that it actually became pretty fun and enjoyable to play. I'm on high grade hopium for the lvl 80 patch, though honestly as long as I get to punt my friends off of tiles in E9S with MoW I'll call it a win. I'm really hoping they've put some effort into making rewards for doing BLU content attractive, especially for the bread and butter content. Allied Seals have so little value for most players that it's like, why bother trying to do content to get them? The GC elite gear is really cool, but you will eventually have all the pieces for it and after that, your desire for Allied Seals drops sharply.

For BLU PvP mode, I'm thinking something closer to like a Battle Royale gameplay style. Boxes or something spawn with spell totems inside them, picking up the totem puts that ability on your bars, and dying means you drop any totems you're carrying. Each player probably gets something like Water Cannon and Pom Cure as stock abilities.

Probably just make it a straight up deathmatch game. Each time you die, your respawn timer gets a little bit longer. I'd favor a simple "limited stock" setup instead, but Square-Enix would probably balk at that since it might mean very new/unskilled players would spend basically the entire match spectating.

I don't consider myself a hardcore BLU and can only do 50s content at the moment (don't ask), but it has midcore stuff that I like. My friends and I have done undersized synced runs to get spells, and the challenge has been memorable without being frustrating. I've dumped allied seals in ventures and aetheryte tickets, but I know what you mean. There's little value to them beyond that, and if you love BLU, you'll have more than enough. Like all content, I'd like to see it be given more love, especially a level 80 expansion.

I like your idea of the BLU PVP. I think that will keep things interesting and even strategic. Gives you the incentive to kill and not die. But yeah, they can't make things too intense because it's against FFXIV's design philosophy, and the general playerbase will balk if they make an exception.

The next person who bears steel at my PVP team, I'm not only going to kill them, but I'm going to kill their spouse, their friends, and burn their godsdamned house down!
