I'm asking bc your wording, "a simple encyclopedic catalogue on [what] quests or quest chains" (ignoring the 'what') already exists, technically. So those can be expanded further to allow people to know what they're missing and where they can start.

Kind of like how Mentor Roulette looks like when you haven't done the stuff that unlocks the content, except a bit more accessible. Such as...

"????" -> (player clicks on the missing questline and a prompt says) "Unlock Requirements: XYZ. Unlocked by speaking to the NPC at Place."
This actually could go with my desire for a dungeon journal feature like in WoW. Where it gives you detailed info, map and most important, loot tables of every dungeon, raid and exploratory zone even.

You can have access to previewing dungeon items for glam hunts and this can also be a helpful tool for sprouts to have a checklist of unlockable dungeon content by expansion (obviously the detailed info would still be mostly greyed out, but you can see where in the game map the quest is to unlock it).

If it something thats unobtrusive like this, Ill have no problem with the game trying to tell me what to do.
