Ah, so the GMs just auto-ban people who spam auto-chat. That's why I don't ever get matched with that person over and over.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with them making it easier to know who to ban, I think it has to do with them knee-capping the ability for people to do something bannable. If they wanted to make it easy to ban people, they'd make an auto-message that is just straight up a slur, and immediately ban any person who uses it. Doesn't even take a GM, it's just a program that deletes your character as soon as you hit that button.

It's a lot more different when playing PvE content when trying to overcome an obstacle with your teammates, and because we're up against NPC's, it doesn't feel too much of a big deal if we wipe. However, it's a lot more different in PvP where you can play well, and it takes one idiot with half a brain cell to drag the entire team down, by doing no damage, and dying to absolutely nothing because they can't press the recup button, thus constantly staggering the team and making the fight unwinnable. Of course people are gonna be toxic. It's less of a big deal with losses feel more justified where they can somehow blame themselves, but losing to other players due to another player on your team making it a 4v5 the entire match is frustrating as all hell.

It's the reason why FFXIV players don't like PvP and Yoshi P knows this. He understands the nature of the playerbase, which is why we will always have the quickchat function to protect player's feelings. Do you know how much people will get banned from their impulse to talk crap to each other? I'm disappointed but at the same time glad that we have a quickchat system, because I would of got banned with the sort of things I would love to say to certain players in my data center.

Yeah, that's why SE doesn't allow chat. So people are less likely to do something which gets them banned. But some people should get banned. And the rest of us should be able to hold normal conversations, even in pvp.
