can a character hide their profile on ffxiv site?

i encountered a tank who couldnt be killed in pvp. i tried searching the name but no character shows up. I think this person may be a cheater

Been ages since I've PvPed but aren't PLDs ridiculously hard to kill because their LB is straight up "Yo I can't die" and it recharges faster than it should?

You can track people even if they change their names

if you type their name and follow it up with "ffxiv lodestone" generally the player pops up

If you're logged into the Lodestone yourself and search for a character by just using the little search field, the lodestone will only search for characters on your own world - if said tank was from a different world, they wont show up. You'll have to adjust the filters to search on all worlds (or a different, specific one if you happen to remember what world that tank was from).

You can set your lodestone-profile to "more private", aka displaying less information about your character on it for everyone to see, but your character will always show up.

Sadly no. This could mean that they've been banned maybe? It could also mean that they've changed their name, although if you have a way of getting the old link to their lodestone profile then you can still find their profile under their new name if they did change it.

It is not possible to hide yourself from lodestone. If nothing shows up, then either the search is done improperly which is not a surprise given how terrible the search function in lodestone is, or the target player is a fresh name change and lodestone has not updated its records yet, which it only does twice a day.

True and some people use ascii codes in their names. It can be hard to tell because some of them look just like normal letters.
