Lame interview hardly touches on anything new.

I love this part.
"Every area has been redone from the ground up, with a visual flow to each region but a new look and layout to every part of the world. The maps will also have a larger number of areas to explore, more little places to investigate and little hamlets or outposts scattered about. The idea is to fill the world with adventure, and that means more things to do and more places to go."
I kept saying that this is how the game should be. Also if quests take from one place to another then it will be even better. Progressing through the world and getting to explore everything is what a real adventure should be.
So move the people that give the leves to camps? Come on...
This is the antithesis of removing grind elements. Grind == Repeat, if it's 20 times a day or 20 times a month people will get sick of the "repeat" which is why we all got sick of leves inside a month.Someone would make one of those nonsense claims that the game wouldnt be Final Fantasy without leves or something.
Personally, I would meet you halfway and put leve desks in all camps. And add daily quests on top of that. Cap everything at 20 (you can do a combination of 20 leves and dailies per real life day). Leves could be counted towards that evaluation thing, while dailies could be for rep/fame with a camp or nearby hamlet while both would still be a source of income if you're not into crafting and gathering (like me).

Depends on where it's placed and what alternatives exist. The reason people got burned out on leves is because it is the ONLY way they could level at a reasonable pace. If they were being kept busy with zone quests and it were easier to find groups for exp/dungeons, then leves would entirely fall into the background.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I leveled fairly quickly long after I threw in the towel on leves. In retrospect I wish I had kept doing them, I might not be so broke now. You do have a point though with enough other content people can mix it up. Having a "camp" with someone that offers up repeatable quests isn't any different than leves though, actually it's just leves with the guy in a different place. Party searches are certainly a must too.Depends on where it's placed and what alternatives exist. I'd just rather not see some repeatable quest centric leveling system, that's what leves where and no matter what level or what camp they weren't fun. I'm all for questing, I play for story and fun more than anything else, but again the same story about "The forest is beinng overrun with spiders" done 100 times or 2 to get levels is still repeating.
I love almost everything they're heading toward, and SE has had my support for 20+ years and will have my support so long as there's another great RPG MMO or not otw. I just don't want to see another potential great fail. I don't think it's going to happen, but I also didn't believe XIII was as linear as people were saying, I'll be damned if that train track ride wasn't a slap in the face.

Lore-wise, leves are state-issued and regulated help wanted adds. Remember that the reason leves were created was to keep this large group of people who were trained in arms and magic returning from a war employed (which in itself was a subtle nod to FF Tactics, as the lack of such is what created the whole mess with the uprising and the Corpse Brigade at the beginning of the game).
The guys in towns and hamlets could have their own daily chores that they'd be willing to pass on to any sucker--I mean, adventurer nearby in exchange for coin and fame.
I agree that repeatables shouldn't be the main focus. And it is also why games l like WoW implement dailies as part of a continuous effort (lore-wise) at the level cap.I'd just rather not see some repeatable quest centric leveling system, that's what leves are and no matter what level or what camp they weren't fun. How is this any different from leves though? It's the same thing cept leves streamline it so that casuals can manage their time better.
No it's good if they keep them, more ways to do something the better. And I fracking hate repeatable quests with a burning passion myself, I'd rather have leves, at least they are not pretending to be something else.. They are what they are.![]()
I love the layout of the leve system. Many people are just so burnt out with them. All that needs to be done is change it and quests up to freshen it up a bit and maybe expand on it. It wont be so bad after 2.0 and as other ways to level are implemented. I use the leves as a way for quick $ and faster leveling via land and hand. sometimes for leveling..
