What if Astrologian's Tarot Cards were a Attack functions

I meant "Had an attack function", lol! That's what I get for not proofreading. xD

Just a thought I've been having for the last two weeks, but what if Astrologian's cards were given specific attack functions, like ninja, in addition to their party boosting benefits?

Like, when you draw Balance, for example, you gain one Balance card that's used for buffing your tank/melee party member, but you also gain a second Balance card used to perform a fire aspected AoE attack on a group of enemies.

And just like how your buffing tarot cards work with the Undraw and Redraw ability, your attacking cards can be switched out the same way.

    Thoughts?

Fun fact, we can kind of take that as real-life tarot's idea of "Reverse" cards.

Like, you draw it, the upright card is a buff, and the reverse card is an attack or whatever effect. In my headcanon, Astros already have that because of the Twelve being two per element, one for each polarity.

Though I'd remove the mention of Fire-Aspected, since elemental aspects no longer have any bearing in gameplay.

Could be a button that lights up whenever we use a card, changing itself to whichever effect. Kinda like the Minor Arcana.

Wait, the Twelve have two elemental aspects connected to each of them!? Ooh, then we could call the attack tarot card "Reverse Polarity Arcane Cards" or something like that. Where they use the other element associated with the Twelve connected with the tarot card we draw.

Oh, I only mentioned the fire with Balance because that was the element its associated with in the lore and that descriptions of certain attacks other Job classes use still display elemental abilities as a certain element aspect.

That's what I was thinking exactly! The icon in our hotbar for our attacking cards remain blank an unusable until we draw a support tarot and gives us the option of attacking, in addition to buffing our allies.

That's the thing. I've always assumed so because they're in a pair. The FFWiki and this website conflate them with the months... I don't have Encyclopaedia Eorzea to corroborate :x but at face-value, and borrowing "Astral" as the excited state of the element vs a passive "umbral"...

Azeyma is Astral bc she's the goddess of the Sun and Justice, so she's the goddess that brings light. Whereas the twins are Umbral since they're the god of Life\Death, the lighting of pyres and stuff like that.
Byregot is the builder who uses his power to power up machines and cause progress, whereas Rhalgr is the destroyer who in a moment reduces all to inactivity.
Same for Nophica who is Astral because she is the goddess of the harvest and growth, while Althyk represents the slow crawl of time and the eventual death of things.

I've actually wanted to work on a program for roleplaying where I developped the Deck of Sixty more than what EE says on it (there's a page for it online :x). Especially since I have experience with stuff like tarot cards and runes. That way people could draw cards, read their meanings and read someone's fortune. Y'know, bc we don't have a feature like that in the game |D
And I envisioned doing it like that. With the upright meanings of the Major Arcana being the Astral gods, and the reversed ones being the Umbral gods.

I just haven't bc a) roleplaying in FF14 is kind of dead, and b) I can't make an alt on Balmung.

The devs need to rework Astrologian so we can have this duality aspect for our tarot cards! Such wasted potential! And all we can do with our current cards is just buff people and that's it.... T-T

You know, it would be so cool if the Gold Saucer had that kind of tarot reading feature as a mini game. Especially if it could unlock either wholesome, funny or serious interactions with major NPCs we've known for a long time in the game. Can see alot of people trying to use this little mini game to see whether they can get woth Y'shtola, G'raha or Thancred or not. xD
