Display the top 1% leaderboard at the end of the season. This would be incentive to keep playing because you don't know what the 1% crystal credit cutoff will be until the end. Otherwise we will continue to have the mentality of "my rank is safe and secure, no more queuing for me I'm done."
I think this is a good idea.

Each team matched will have similar total crystal credit, whether that is both teams with 5 players at 100 credit each for a total of 500, or one team with a a player at 200 credit and one with 0 for a total of 500. Sure there will be the chance you get a 500 credit player on a team full of 0's but this would likely only happen near the beginning of the season as the talent starts to clear the horizon.

The credit system definitely makes more sense than the tiers. I thought it was kind of weird when I got to crystal in season 1 how it felt like entirely its own ranking but matchmaking didn't even take it into account.

The irony is that we had rating/credit/elo before 6.1, however deranking was available in all tiers if you lost enough times.

However rating loss was lower in lower tiers, with it being near rating gain with wins in Diamond.

Im unsure why they went with tiers tbh.

They went tiers because it's more "casual friendly," I guess? But even the casual players hate being deranked and the seeming RNG of ranking up in general. I don't think their best and brightest were in charge on that aspect of PvP.

You can have Elo and "tiers," they aren't mutually exclusive. How it's *supposed* to work is that the tiers are just window dressing. Instead of saying "you have 2776 rating," you would tell someone "you are Platinum with 2 stars, and you're almost to your third star!" The rating is what determines matching and their progress through a tier, but what's shown to them is "tiers" because they're fancier and it sounds better to go "congratulations on making it to Diamond status!" than "congratulations on making it to 3082 rating!"

Sounds about right, I'd be okay with a doubled-up system like that.

But casuals really need to get over themselves, de-ranking is bad-feeling for a reason.

You will find matches but not nearly as often. This has been an issue since The Feasts ranked seasons.
    Good luck to you though.

This is not entirely true. Yes, you can secure a spot but if people surpass your credit (in crystal) you fall. And yes, you can fall off the top 100. So, if you want to stay top 100 you have to keep playing and winning, unless everyone keeps losing. If that makes any sense.
