It's allegedly so horrible, yet you're still here. The only objective fact is that you're talking out of your arse, trying to pass off opinion as fact. That's not how this works.
(I had a blast, especially with the new EX trial).
Define "garbage"? Because by all intents and purposes:
- The MSQ got everyone talking about the future of FF14 and bolstered the interest in exploring the Thirteenth
- The raid story was hailed as being a highlight, specifically its story and the music. The fights were hit-or-miss in terms of execution, but had interesting concepts.
- The Beast Tribes deal with bringing a glimmer of hope to Ultima Thule and watch as other Ostrakons began developping slowly toward it. Which served to endear the area and its inhabitants to the community further.
- Island Sanctuary was a highly anticipated area and was praised for being a different form of casual content with room to grow.
- And while Criterion Dungeons were seen as an exercise in futility due to the underwhelming rewards, both it and the Variant dungeons were received well. Many people praised the different paths people can take, the exploration approach to dungeons and having NPCs with you interacting with the plot. As well as expanding on the world and characters via story snippets.
I'd get it if you said they were weak, since they had lukewarm reception. Each piece of content had its fair share of criticism and suggestions, but that doesn't imply it's garbage. Overall, this patch wasn't an abject failure under any stretch. Don't take the forums' reactions as gospel. The forums are less moderated than other places, which coupled with Square saying they'll only take feedback from here implies there'll be more criticism. Even when reactions were negative, they didn't imply a full hatred for the content. It otherwise received wasn't too terrible regardless.
A ton of people enjoyed 6.2 and 6.25. The biggest draw for many people to FFXIV is that you don’t have to play it. You can do the quick stuff from the latest patch on release week, and then go back to playing other games or doing more productive things with your time. FFXIV was never meant to be a content-filled MMO like WoW, and many people love that. The shorter the patch content, the sooner we can go back to whatever else we were doing. No other MMO respects our time like that.
This is another good point. I’ve heard from many people that they all are trying to piece their lives back together after we finally got a much-needed break from content. It would be a bummer for us to be forced to play this game again when we all have real-world stuff to do. Where’s the time for relationships and hobbies? If anything, most of us could use more droughts. We should be grateful.
I love how a thread on Dynamis being "dead" derailed into talking about why 6.2/6.25 is or isn't garbage.
Honestly I'm not even surprised anymore.

I think the timing and reasons that people haven't been on much have been sufficiently covered, but I wanted to point out, once play does pick up with 6.3 and into 7.0, people will also stop going to other DCs as much, because the transfer time will jump drastically. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I could swear that I read somewhere that you are put at the back of the queue when trying to transfer, meaning you have to wait until no players from that DC are trying to log in before you get to transfer your character from Dynamis to another DC. When the new patches and especially the new expansion are out, that's going to be a loooong wait, so people are going to stay and que on Dynamis. Add to that the fact that all of the new players and alt accounts will finally be at decent points in the MSQ, and things should be popping pretty quick
That pretty much nails it
DC travel is only an easy 30 seconds or so "now".
But the day Dynamis opened it took 10 freaking minutes to go from Maduin to Goblin.
I expect that to return with new patches, and god help us when 7.0 drops. DC travel won't be worth the hour wait, and the worst part is you can't even cancel & back out of it once you start it.
So we'll have to have a Q by then.
If you /sea all on Maduin, the list doesn't even reach 200 3 weeks after opening still yet.
154 total players online in Maduin. I don't think anyone expected it to be THAT low. Yes that's right, 1....5.....4.... total online. Half are a mix of afk'ers & probably rmt. It's pretty bad here.
We'll see what happens with 7.0, if it doesn't get much better than that I can see SE pushing Dynamis servers into Crystal/Aether instead of opening 4 more.

If you're judging it based on today, it's literally 8 AM on a major holiday for the US and there's always less pop in the mornings regardless of what server youre on. You're better off checking tomorrow during the actual peak time because Marilith hits between 700-1k and Seraph's Limsa speaks for itself because that's alive no matter what time of day it is.That pretty much nails it

Please stop doomposting that because you ended up on one of the smaller pop servers (which we all knew Maduin and Mari were going to be smaller compared to Seraph and Hali if you were being active in the community leading up to launch & after) that the place is on the verge to be merged into another DC. It's not, I'm literally helping new players get through MSQ trials and dungeons on a daily basis, NEW PLAYERS mind you. I or others in the party actually ask if it's their first time ever doing this.
Also, just for kicks, here are the current pops everywhere at 9:18 AM EST
Mari: 300ish
Seraph: 600ish
Hali: 400ish
Maduin: 300ish

I've been on Seraph from day one. Albeit, I was able to buy a small house, the population is pretty slim. Roulettes take on average of 30 minutes to pop, selling is pretty bad as no one seems to buy anything and when they do they go to another DC, I would already have left but stuck here for 90 days. Yuk! There's actually an FC called 90 Days which is dedicated to getting off this place in 90 days. I feel like I'm doing time here.

Why is everyone expecting the new DC to be on Balmung levels of activity less than a month after release? These things take time to develop. There's no getting around that. If the DC is still quiet this time next year, then you're allowed to call it dead.
Kaplan Zereort, the Forever Penniless
Meredith Cross, the BunBun Tank
Himeko Murata, the PantslessHealerGreen DPS
Do you really think it's going to fill out over time? You must be joking. The big rush is over, now there's just sadness, tears and great remorse.
