I just feel bad for any new player who makes their first character on Dynamis not knowing the situation. There are a grand total of 8 parties active on the entire datacenter as I post this, and this is peak hours for the NA region (6pm PST). This is not how FFXIV is supposed to be played.

While I know this isn't a big "hype period" like during a new patch or expac, this game is still on sale. Customers are still buying it, and will run into an utterly broken situation if they don't check the forums beforehand. At least World of Warcraft combines all of its dead servers together so that people can still queue for content. There's large swaths of content that's simply unplayable on this datacenter. I have yet to see any reasonable defense as to why this is a good thing.

    You can just DC travel.

That's the bonus of playing on NA.

If you want to feel bad for people, Feel bad for the Materia DC players that have had to survive for almost a year with a playerbase half the size of a single NA server.

Trying to remember the last time I ran into a new player that knew Party Finder even existed, let alone was trying to use it.

    think...think...think...

    Coming up blank.

Most new players won't have a need to use PF until after (or at least close to) completing MSQ and that's going to take several months for most. The players who are most inconvenienced are the veteran players used to relying on PF for end game content. Not to say that isn't also important but trying to pull "the new player experience is ruined" card here is rather silly.

In the meantime, tonight I queued for The Dark Inside on one of my alts with 3 others from my Marilith FC because we all needed it for MSQ progression (though I'm the only who had done it before). Rather than data center travel, we queued on Marilith.

Our wait time was 6 minutes, which is pretty darn good for a direct queue on a MSQ trial. I've had far longer queue times back on Crystal when doing it on my other characters that needed it for MSQ. Obviously not everyone is abandoning Dynamis to do content on the other data centers.

    Anecdotal? Yes.

    Did we get lucky? Maybe?

Yet it's fairly consistent with the other queue times I've experienced on Dynamis so far.

I wouldn't doubt that players are having with PvP queues, and likely Alliance raid queues as well since those tend to be unpredictable even on populated data centers. But any claims that state or imply all queues have been a problem are false.

It's worse on Materia. Feel bad for them and maybe use this same doomposting energy to help their cause.

Also, we have been hitting into the 20s now for # of PF ads on some nights. FCs are still being decorated and it will increase once they open the doors to their venues and we get new content in 6.3.

I still fail to understand why people expect new DCs that have been alive for a month to perform at the same level as the rest of the NA region that has been building up an audience for multiple years (with one in particular capitalizing on the WoW situation and adopting the majority of their streamers which in turn flooded said DC). Make it make sense.

As I said, FFXIV was not supposed to be a seasonal game that you only play once or twice a year. That’s what we treat it as, but the devs are still selling this game as though it’s supposed to be played in December 2022.

The game was not built to operate on a PF with only 8 parties (most being ads) and hour+ queues for content. No one is asking for Dynamis to be like Aether. If a non-existent PF and queues are optimal, why don’t we adopt this across the game?

I am not asking for Dynamis to explode in popularity. But cross-DC parties and queues are the bare minimum and would resolve the issue. It’s 2022 and there’s no (good) excuse as to why we can’t have this.

    Party finder for MSQ?.
90% of the game including raids, pvp etc its completely and enforced to do it alone. PF its mostly for hunts/extreme or savage.
