All of its content died in a week save for the beast tribe quest, which isn't bringing people back.
Define "garbage"? Because by all intents and purposes:
    - The MSQ got everyone talking about the future of FF14 and bolstered the interest in exploring the Thirteenth
    - The raid story was hailed as being a highlight, specifically its story and the music. The fights were hit-or-miss in terms of execution, but had interesting concepts.
    - The Beast Tribes deal with bringing a glimmer of hope to Ultima Thule and watch as other Ostrakons began developping slowly toward it. Which served to endear the area and its inhabitants to the community further.
    - Island Sanctuary was a highly anticipated area and was praised for being a different form of casual content with room to grow.
    - And while Criterion Dungeons were seen as an exercise in futility due to the underwhelming rewards, both it and the Variant dungeons were received well. Many people praised the different paths people can take, the exploration approach to dungeons and having NPCs with you interacting with the plot. As well as expanding on the world and characters via story snippets.

I'd get it if you said they were weak, since they had lukewarm reception. Each piece of content had its fair share of criticism and suggestions, but that doesn't imply it's garbage. Overall, this patch wasn't an abject failure under any stretch. Don't take the forums' reactions as gospel. The forums are less moderated than other places, which coupled with Square saying they'll only take feedback from here implies there'll be more criticism. Even when reactions were negative, they didn't imply a full hatred for the content. It otherwise received wasn't too terrible regardless.

What, it was. You have a lot of people that liked it, and even within the forums you had people who enjoyed it. Even those who pointed out issues with it said that it just needs to be expanded further than the current base. At no point was it an "abject failure" like people were painting the whole expansion to be.

    So...

    Lmao yourself?

    Read the context?

    You know... It didn't fail?

You want content that failed? Remember that Diadem used to give armor with random stats? I wonder why we no longer have that

I mean come on, it's obvious. They didn't personally like it, and there was a bit of a stir about it on the forums... clearly means Islands were an abject failure.

Yoshi not being into it doesn't mean much. He's busy and chooses to spend his little bit of game time on other things. A stir in the forums is a poor gauge as well. A lot of the negative commentary was from people misinforming themselves about what Island would be, like having Genshin or Stardew ported in. A lot of people actually enjoy it. They've taken feedback and they're working to improve it, so it's not a failure.

A lot of people liked it? Is that why most people just go onto the Island Sanctuary discord to do their 2 minutes of workshop and head right out? That's the content you're going to say received omega praise? lmao

DC Travel is what is killing Crystal's pf, not that it's a surprise DC travel is also what is making them die. It's a hard line to cross.

Where's the irony in saying that Dynamis is a dead server and that new players have to DC travel to do the MSQ? Older players/vets/ect have no incentive to DF queue in a dead server, like at all, and why would they stay around for an extremely long que for the handful of new players that don't know about DC travel? Would you do that? Or are you content with staying in Crystal for a ~5min que pop if you're tank/healer, and about 10-15mins for a DPS?

There's no complaints about filling for "filler content" - if Oizen wanted to find people to do filler content with, they would literally go to Aether. Bam, done. It doesn't solve the issue that the new servers are dead as hell, more or less.

Well crystal isn't exactly the 'raiding' datacenter.

Each datacenter has its demographic, the people that want to raid just go visit the DC that has the better raiders. The ones that want some roleplay action, head over to Crystal.

Its a new time for XIV, you can live anywhere and play anywhere.

the 30 seconds it takes to DC travel isn't going to hurt anyone, you raid, then you go home. easy.

Well yeah, that's why it's killing Crystal's PF lmao.

Even casual PF - i.e trial mount farms, unsynced raids, those sorts of things are on the low.

I'm kinda neutral on it - it's neither here or there. I don't PF that much anymore, aside from boredom, but the one thing is for sure: you can sure feel the effects of DC travel.

I know someone's going to get upset that I'm nitpicking but can we please be honest about the fact that DC travel isn't as convenient as world travel?

It's not 30 seconds, nor in the snap of your fingers. Between logging out, waiting for the login screen to load, going through the process of of waiting for the transfer and then waiting to log in, it's somewhere around 3-5 minutes, depending on what server you jumped to.

Not exactly a lot, and I understand that the option is there, but it also adds up, especially when you consider all the different activities you have to go back to your own server for.

It's not that fast, but if you want to do something as crazy as alliance roulette, you'll save time. Alliance is still a poor example to show. People don't want to do that with a bunch of alts because they know what's going to happen. Stop acting like that roulette wasn't a hot topic in the last month.

Of course, we're still in December. People are still out there, doing other things while they wait for the patch (Dragonflight included).
