Failure to Launch: Unable to complete version check.

    ISP: Virgin Media
    Country: UK
    Date/Time: 16. Nov 2022
    Frequency: Constant

As of the 16th of November, I've been unable to successfully launch FF14, with the exception of a brief window of a day or so when I was able to get the game working again by launching via ffxivboot64.exe, with other means of starting the process always yielding the same error and immediate closure: Unable to complete version check. [30605][10009][19900][12030]

I've done some looking around for possible solutions and have tried quite a few without success. These measures include:

    Rebooting my computer
Rebooting my router (both via router menu and hard reboot aka unplugging it)
    Resetting my router
Editing the file FFXIV_BOOT.cfg to change BootVersionCheckMode from 1 to 0
    Connecting with a VPN
    Reinstalling the game (numerous times)
Starting it with ffxivboot64.exe - this worked briefly after a reinstallation, but the error started occurring again within a day or so, including when trying to launch this way
    Various combinations of the above

I have a trace route, which I will paste below:

    Trace complete.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I also tried pausing protection on my firewell/antivirus, and making certain that the game was explicitly greenlit in the relevant permissions on my antivirus software. This has had no discernable effect.

    Addendum:

Both to bump this thread (since I posted it on a weekend) and to update on more measures attempted.

I have tried forwarding the recommended ports (despite UPnP being enabled) I read about when consulting the FF14 troubleshooter, to no effect.

I have made the registry edits suggested in the following thread (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...easy-fix-51044) , also to no effect.

Edit: I seemed to get it working again a little while ago by reinstalling on my second drive instead. Unfortunately, that solution seems to also have been short lived. I was able to log in and play a couple times, only for the error to then come back exactly the same as before.

Last Edit for now, hopefully: It stopped working on D:/ and was already not working on the default installation path, but I presently have it patching again on just C:/, rather than Program Files. I anticipate it failing again in the near future, but for now it appears to be working. Extremely strange.
