    Showdown quest glitched?

    I'm trying to complete this quest and the game keeps telling me I can't synth the item.... I've dropped the quest and re-accepted it, but I'm still getting the same error. I've triple checked that I have the proper materials. Any ideas as to what I'm missing or is this a known problem?
