Controller issues with Bluetooth LE devices

Afternoon everybody, having issues with Bluetooth controller support on steam. Specifically I have a brand new xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Brand new from Microsoft. Whenever the game launches it detects it as a "Bluetooth LE XINPUT compatible input device". It experiences stick drift in this configuration. I also have to calibrate the buttons on it each time it boots or the device disconnects.

Switching the device to "Controller(XBOX 360 For windows)" Stops the stick drift and also stops me from having to calibrate the device. I don't mind swapping the device manually, but anytime i launch the game it defaults back down to the Bluetooth LE device option

I always had issues with my XBox One Controller Wireless. The game never recognized it properly at launch and I would have to change it in the menu like you described. It worked fine if I had it connected via USB, though.

I've since changed to a PS5 Controller and have never had a single problem.

Steam config perhaps?

does steam detect it as an elite series controller.

does it behave the same in all 3 profiles? (button in centre of controller 0 1 2 or 3 lights lit up)

mine comes up as the same bluetooth le xinput device because i have the expanded features enabled. (custom paddles) but it only comes up once. i cant change to the 360 option is that a second controller or the same one?
