Well, I did meet someone here through the Marriage Hookup thread. There was an attempt to create something, it was okay, we had fun playing FFXIV and other games even, like me streaming FFIX or co-op Stardew Valley. But I guess I wanted... more talking? They got too engaged elsewhere. Maybe I was to blame. Not going to over-share but either way things fell apart. There was another relation I had with a person in WoW, and that lasted a year.

I think one thing I've found is that when you find someone in-game, there becomes almost an expectation that there'll be playing that same game together as well. It might not be true for everyone. Couple this with general issues people might face with LDRs, it makes for an ugly mix. I'll admit now with hindsight that I held that expectation and was quite upset when things didn't come to meet it.

I've met a person now through a common Discord server - and this time I wasn't actively looking for anything. I'm pretty happy where we stand now - we just occasionally play together a game here and there, he streams to me, I stream to him, we watch shows together and whatnot. I've learnt from my mistakes by trusting better, and of course grasping the simple concept of people sometimes being explosively busy.

It's for sure basic things to know from the start, but I've had a caged life.
