One more layer of identity you are willingly flaying away. Just keep at it until there is nothing left but numbers at the end of the Game's Title and Chocobos. Surely that will be enough to stand out. No doubt that will be what keeps your MMO at the forefront of everyone's mind.
Yes because a 2012 MMORPG with world class graphics but lacking a standard feature like Jumping would really make XIV stand out and beat all other MMORPGS.
Screw GW2 or Terra and WOW, the lack of jumping is really what will appeal to the masses. Simply genius.
That is the problem right there. You think Jumping is something that HAS to be in an MMO. As if somehow 10 years ago jumping was some kind of unobtainable process. Now that we haz the technology it has to be in everything!
Not having a Jump because the game isn't designed for it does not mean the title is poorly made. It just doesn't factor that feature in as a key aspect of the movement system given to players. Which is a good thing because it is something I enjoyed about both FFXI and FFXIV. The sense of being weight down by the world and not being distracted by people bunny hopping constantly around to save a few precious seconds of going around an obstacle.



 
			
			
				Your argument for a jumpless MMO sounds to me like a goddamn good reason to have jump in the game.
That being said 2.0 is built to support jump and thus it should be there. Now deal with it.
A good avocation for having jumping in your MMO is to shatter the entire realistic tapestry you've woven over the past 2 years by allowing people to skip up and down constantly as they frolic across your environment bypassing terrain you placed there in the first place to hinder them?

				People aren't asking for artistic realism. They are saying jumping too high is not "realistic" and breaks their immersion because we should only be able to jump as high as the muscles in our legs can take us. That's completely different.
By your own link; the way SE is depicting this game visually; is "realism" in it's purest form. Art is subjective. Saying I can't jump high as a lalafell versus a cat because I'm short and have stubby legs is not art based.


And in the XIV universe, you don't see jumping as a viably realistic action? You think that regardless of the immense feats of strength, jumping would be completely illogical?
