I think at this point Square Enix knows that a movement system "that focuses on a more creative way of doing things" isn't going to compete with other MMO's on the market. Animation locks are one thing, but to not have the fluidity of movement like WoW or SWtOR has, is putting them one step behind with a lot of players, especially veterans of any of the titles to which I'm speaking about. They'll also lose a lot of new youth players as well. The movement system as it stands is clunky and archaic, and needs updating/upgrading on the whole. Hopefully they understand this. It worked in FFXI, because it WAS the most fluid way of doing things back then. Now? Not so much.
