Well that's just it. According to the interviews, we won't be jumping over anything. It's just an animation to please those who wanted it and 'adds nothing to the gameplay'.While choice is a lovely thing, I would first want to see what not seeing the jump animation while its happening would look like before I agree with a toggle to hide it. I mean if the character jumps but you don't see the animation, what WOULD you see? I find it hard to believe that it would be as if nothing happened (like now for instance, we have no jump... so would a toggle make it look like NOTHING happened at all? as in the character stays on the ground and no movement indicating an action was performed shows?) I mean imagine I jump over something, would a person with the toggle off just see me disappear and reappear where I landed? O.0" that would be odd as hell honestly.

the interview doesn't specifically say we wont be able to jump over anything though. all we know is that we wont be able to evade anything with jump. I suppose a clarification from the devs would be nice.
The same would happen as if it were a cutscene/contextual jump of sorts.
Wrong. In the end this entire thread boils down to not wanting jump, which is why I said the devs are already adding it due to not only PLAYER request but because it is an MMO standard.
1. It was requested as an "option" that people felt they couldn't live without.
2. It's being implemented as fanfare.
Those in support of adding jump as an "option" and/or because they couldn't live without have no right to oppose a toggle feature. Furthermore, it doesn't matter to those that aren't going to see it how it'd work; any attempt at opposing this toggle is blatant hypocrisy for those supporting the option to have jump implemented in the first place.

fanfare to what exactly? FFXIII-2 was the first FF game to ever have a jump mechanic. regardless my point still stands, Jump- whether we like it or not, is an MMO standard. I'm not against a toggle to turn jump off, I just honestly can't imagine how it won't look silly. The same would happen as if it were a cutscene/contextual jump of sorts.

I got that they where just using evation as an example, and the fact that they said 'any' involves all aspects of gameplay.
Would love to be proven wrong though.
