/display jump on /display jump off would do fine, or an option in the menu.
Just blacklist them if they dont want to sotp being stupid. if I jump off a ledge to lower ground, what are you going to see? it's just going to look even stupider with the animation off.

People are you are predicting a problem that just isn't going to be a problem. Have you jump haters really played any other mmorpg? people dont just stand in town and jump up and down constantly. It just doesn't happen the way people think it does. I played WoW for a few years and I never saw this behavior.

There is no need for a toggle switch for this, and I don't see how it can be implemented. your character is moving up and down on the z axis. There will be trivial applications for this (e.g. climbing over small objects like rocks that would otherwise block you or disrupt movement). Yes they said it wouldn't impact gameplay, but this just means "can't avoid damage from ifrit's lava splats and cracks by jumping." Even if you toggled the animation off, you'd still have to see the person moving in the air.

(I wouldn't mind an option to turn it off and not have to see useless bouncing).
It's simply not going to happen. There is no reason to turn it off. It won't have any battle application no, but as I said, there will still very likely be more minor functional purpose. Like you said, this isn't going to suddenly turn into super mario galaxy or something. people are getting bent up over nothing.
