I think "Deal with it" is pretty reasonable here. There are lots of things people do that I would rather not see in-game but I can't stop them from doing it. If jump ends up having a purpose outside of battle it would be pretty strange to see people floating onto platforms or down hills without jumping.

"Just deal with it" as in "just deal with the game not having jump"... sure.

That's not your place to decide. Never mind the fact that any useful implementation of jump can just as easily be covered by a contextual jump system.

Seriously, don't say crap like that. It's not an all or nothing sort of deal here and we have been encouraged to voice concern from day one. Just because I don't want to see jumping sense it has no other purpouse than to satisfy those that wanted it (their words not mine mind you) does not mean the whole game is a pile. What sort of guy would I be if I quit something just because I didn't like one aspect of it? I'd never be happy with anything.
