    I keep seeing people mention in XIII-2 how there's no "jump animation."

    There absolutely is. It happens quick, possibly 1-2 frames max, and it's something that is felt more than seen. Something like that is absolutely fine for an MMO where movement and positioning is such an integral part.

    It'd be absurd for SE to add a jump feature, only for it to be another animation lock to completely screw yourself over on.

    Really depends on whether the animation is locked into passive mode or not. Can easily hit the space bar while fighting in this game...

    Im shocked,awed, and amused that we found out the details on jump back on page 38 and this thread is still growing. First it was asking for a filter because it was thought to be just an emote then we found out itll be used like other mmos then it got even deeper into figuring out how out of place it would look for a lalafell to jump the same height as say a elezen. The madness doesnt end. My theory is when the 7th umbral era concludes and 2.0 begins dalamud releases a magical energy of Shatotto's trapped in dalamud long ago that gives lalafell all around the world the long forgotten magic art of jumping at the same height as the other races.

    Awesome to hear they are designing maps with jump in mind.
    How make it so thay the higher a persons strength, the higher they jump. within reason of course.. ;-)

    Now Zaaku or whoever he is wants a 3-5 second delay imposed to curtail excessive jumping. Amazing. Oh and a side note jumping in battle also means spell cancellation.

    There has not been nor will I think there ever will be a game that renders someone jumping but first squatting, going into there, having a brief pause than landing and squatting to break the impact.

    Running and jumping has NEVER been rendered realistically in game.

    It's a waste of resources and time; you would then have to account for any and all things you would possible land on.

    What happens when you hit a fence by accident?
    Do you trip?
    Does your character fall down like a child and get a cut on your knee?

    Name me ONE game that shows this as prior art; with "REALISTIC" gameplay; specific to jumping and I'll go buy it right now to try it out.
    Not perfect of course, but I think assassins creed had done a damn good job with overall movement and jumping. Its very fluid, so fluid almost feels slowed anbit, which is what attracts me to ffxiv. 2.0 please dont take it away.
